  • Publication number: 20070150657
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the invention, a method is disclosed for selecting a first subset of a plurality of cache ways in a cache for storing hardware threads identified as high priority hardware threads for processing by a multi-threaded processor in communication with the cache; assigning high priority hardware threads to the selected first subset; monitoring a cache usage of a high priority hardware thread assigned to the selected first subset of plurality of cache ways; and reassigning the assigned high priority hardware thread to any cache way of the plurality of cache ways if the cache usage of the high priority hardware thread exceeds a predetermined inactive cache usage threshold value based on the monitoring.

  • Publication number: 20070108379
Abstract: A real time gamma-ray signature/source identification method and system using principal components analysis (PCA) for transforming and substantially reducing one or more comprehensive spectral libraries of nuclear materials types and configurations into a corresponding concise representation/signature(s) representing and indexing each individual predetermined spectrum in principal component (PC) space, wherein an unknown gamma-ray signature may be compared against the representative signature to find a match or at least characterize the unknown signature from among all the entries in the library with a single regression or simple projection into the PC space, so as to substantially reduce processing time and computing resources and enable real-time characterization and/or identification.

  • Publication number: 20070094453
Abstract: A discussion of a dynamic configuration for a prefetcher is proposed. For example, a thread specific latency metric is calculated and provides dynamic feedback to the software on a per thread basis via the configuration and status registers. Likewise, the software can optionally use the information from the registers to dynamically configure the prefetching behavior and allows the software to be able to both query the performance and configure the prefetcher.

  • Publication number: 20060146977
Abstract: A neutron multi-detector array feeds pulses in parallel to individual inputs that are tied to individual bits in a digital word. Data is collected by loading a word at the individual bit level in parallel. The word is read at regular intervals, all bits simultaneously, to minimize latency. The electronics then pass the word to a number of storage locations for subsequent processing, thereby removing the front-end problem of pulse pileup.

  • Publication number: 20060140326
Abstract: A source of low energy neutrons based on a combination of unique technology has resulted in a man-portable package suitable for field use. This source of low energy neutrons produces a forward directed beam to permit local control and it is electrically activated so there is no radiation hazard when it is turned off for transport and relocation.

  • Publication number: 20060081787
Abstract: A method of absolute nuclear material assay of an unknown source comprising counting neutrons from the unknown source and providing an absolute nuclear material assay utilizing a model to optimally compare to the measured count distributions. In one embodiment, the step of providing an absolute nuclear material assay comprises utilizing a random sampling of analytically computed fission chain distributions to generate a continuous time-evolving sequence of event-counts by spreading the fission chain distribution in time.

  • Patent number: 6674945
Abstract: An electric conductor incorporates at least one optical fibre and has a central axial element with at least one layer of elements helically stranded about it. At least one of the elements, preferably the central axial one, includes at least one optical fibre which is enclosed in a longitudinally extending welded metal tube (typically stainless steel). A second metal tube of greater thickness and higher conductivity than the welded metal tube and having an unwelded longitudinal seam surrounds the welded tube. The second tube is typically of aluminium and served to increase the diameter of the element so that a greater range of useful conductor sizes can be formed by using it in conjunction with appropriately chosen wire diameters.
