  • Patent number: 10575051
Abstract: Provided is an enhanced television system and method including a television display in communication with a broadcast enhancement pathway via a first communication interface of the television display and with a video connection via a second communication interface of the television display. The television display receives and displays uncompressed video data from a digital video stream carried over the video connection from a video source and enhancement data from the broadcast enhancement pathway. The digital video stream includes embedded base programming identification metadata. The television display receives the enhancement data from the broadcast enhancement pathway without the enhancement data passing through the video source; and extracts a base identification tag from the embedded base programming identification metadata. The enhancement data received from the broadcast enhancement pathway associated with the base identification tag is combined with the digital video stream.

  • Patent number: 10348482
Abstract: The disclosed apparatus may include (1) a plurality of SerDes devices that each facilitate transmitting and receiving communications in connection with a network device and (2) at least one phase-adjustment device communicatively coupled to a first SerDes device included in the SerDes devices, wherein the phase-adjustment device mitigates crosstalk among the SerDes devices by (A) receiving at least one reference clock signal, (B) generating at least one phase-adjusted clock signal based at least in part on the reference clock signal such that the phase-adjusted clock signal and the reference clock signal are out of phase with respect to one another, and (C) delivering the phase-adjusted clock signal to the first SerDes device to ensure that the SerDes devices are switching out of phase with respect to one another. Various other apparatuses, systems and methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9863313
Abstract: Various examples are provided for power generation using buoyancy-induced vortices. In one example, among others, a vortex generation system includes an array of hybrid vanes comprising a first vane section in a surface momentum boundary layer and a second vane section above the first vane section. The first vane section is configured to impart a first angular momentum on the preheated air in the surface momentum boundary layer and the second vane section is configured to impart a second angular momentum on preheated air drawn through the second vane section. In another embodiment, a method for power extraction from a buoyancy-induced vortex includes imparting angular momentum to preheated boundary layer air entrained by a thermal plume to form a stationary columnar vortex. The angular momentum can be imparted to the preheated boundary layer air at a plurality of angles by an array of hybrid vanes distributed about the thermal plume.

  • Publication number: 20160247121
Abstract: The system allows an employee/individual/asset to manage availability and schedules with multiple stakeholders from one log in, simultaneously. Stakeholders might include employers, organizations, departments, groups, units, friends, family and those with whom one might associate. A social network based on the sharing of availability and time with others is provided. Employees have a single source to manage availability or unavailability with multiple organizations simultaneously from one log in. Other solutions do not currently allow for a single log in for employees to connect with more than one employer using the same solution. The method allows for a single log in for employees to connect with more than one employer. The approximate distance away of every contact using a mobile app is provided so managers can see how far away an employee is in the event they have not shown up for a shift or when considering who to call in for a last minute shift.
