  • Patent number: 6272104
Abstract: A portable computer includes a media module having a support surface. A drive base is movable relative to the support surface. A spindle includes an automatically actuatable clamp device mounted on the drive base. A triggering device is mounted in the spindle and includes a reciprocating member and a rotating cam member, so that movement of the drive base adjacent the support surface moves the reciprocating member to rotate the cam member and actuate the clamp device.

  • Patent number: 6215656
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for installing and connecting one or more expansion boards in a computer system while the computer system is being manufactured as well as when a user upgrades or reconfigures the computer system. An expansion board bay for receiving the expansion board is located within the computer system, typically on a circuit board such as the motherboard. A connector module that is separate from the expansion board and the expansion board bay is positioned within the computer system. The connector module is positioned to provide easy external access to a contact portion of the connector module, thereby allowing a user to connect an external data signal line to the connector module. A connector cable operably connects the expansion board with the connector module to establish communication between the data processor and the external data line through the expansion board.

  • Patent number: 6174168
Abstract: A prosthetic tooth having an enamel layer which has a zone of substantially constant thickness. This tooth is molded using a dental tooth mold part prepared by imaging a dental pattern of a prosthetic tooth shade layer and/or shader mold part outer surface, and forming the dental pattern in a mold by program directed milling. A family of prosthetic teeth is provided including a first tooth in a first set of teeth having a first overall labial length, and a first back length, and a second tooth in a second set of teeth having a second overall labial length, and a second back length. The invention provides a prosthetic incisor tooth including a tooth body having two generally symmetrical curved grooves between three curved ridges on the labial face of the body at the incisal end of the body. The grooves are deepest at the incisal end and extend substantially from the incisal edge to at least about 15 percent of the overall tooth length.

  • Patent number: 6100819
Abstract: The subject invention relates to methods and apparatus for monitoring and regulating the flow of traffic through intersections and specifically to an improved method and apparatus for automatically detecting and documenting disregard of traffic signals for purposes of prosecuting offenders and reducing the risk posed to the driving public posed by disregard of traffic signals without the need for police presence. The present invention comprises traffic signalization lights at adjacent street intersections; a traffic detection and speed measurement means; a traffic light state sensor means; and a traffic light delay means designed to coordinate the traffic detection and speed measurement means and timing of the traffic signalization lights and a recording means to document the license plate number of violating vehicles.

  • Patent number: 5817259
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for controlling the reconfiguration of a moulded boat hull structure as it is cooled from its moulding temperature to ambient temperature. A dynamic cooling fixture is utilized having movable panels that support substantially the entire inner and outer hull surfaces during the entire cooling process. This results in the cooling of the hull in a manner which will be devoid of wrinkles, depressions, or other disadvantageous discontinuities.

  • Patent number: 5735891
Abstract: A cardiac stimulator lead and sleeve for anchoring the lead at its point of entry into a vein. More particularly, the present invention comprises a helical coil made of a resilient material that is capable of being uncoiled and wrapped around the lead and/or the vein such that it is biased to resume its fully coiled state and thereby frictionally engages the vein and or lead and functions as an anchoring device for the lead.

  • Patent number: 5697105
Abstract: A facial mask eliminates odors from the exhalation of a wearer while permitting detection by the wearer of odors a the surrounding environment. In the preferred embodiment, the invention takes the form of an air permeable facial covering disposed over the mouth and nose of the wearer, including elements for absorbing exhalation odors impregnated therein. At least one single direction inlet valve is disposed in the air permeable facial covering thereby providing an incoming air passageway through which ambient air may pass without passing through the means for absorbing exhalation odors. Elements for securing the perimeter of the air permeable facial covering to the wearer, such as an elastic band, is provided so that the exhalation of the wearer must pass through the elements for absorbing exhalation odors and may not escape around the perimeter of the air permeable facial covering.

  • Patent number: 5691905
Abstract: A method of milling and polishing a set of tooth mold parts by milling a first and second tooth mold parts of a set of mold parts using a first and second tool path program, then polishing the mold parts using the first and second tool path program, to form polished mold parts adapted to form an enamel layer of a prosthetic tooth. A method is provided of molding artificial teeth each having a molded enamel layer and high definition labial striations, by milling and then polishing a set of at least three tooth mold parts in mold making material. The milling and polishing is directed by three milling programs which use data, representative of the surface of one of the tooth mold parts. The data is adapted by the milling program to direct the milling and polishing. The milling of each of the parts includes executing a first pass with a first mill and executing a second pass with a second mill. The first mill has a first mill end.

  • Patent number: 5593433
Abstract: An implantable endocardial lead with a retractable helix. A specialized stylet can be inserted into the lead at the proximal end and passed through the lead to the distal end. Located at the distal end of the lead is a piston supporting the helix. The piston is attached to a coiled trifilar conductor and has an electrode adjacent the helix. Immediately adjacent the piston proximally an additional first short coil of wire is interlocked between the wires of the trifilar conductor, providing a female thread within the conductor. The stylet has a second single strand short coil segment spot welded to the stylet adjacent a distal end thereof. The stylet is rotated to screw the second short coil segment on the stylet into the first short coil adjacent the piston.
