  • Patent number: 11801612
Abstract: A measuring device is releasably received within a winding core of a customer roll wound on a slitter-winder (10). The measuring device (20) is releasably fastened within the winding core by fastening element(s) (21) securing the device to the winding core (10) for rotation during winding of the fiber web around the winding core to form the customer roll. Eccentricity of the customer roll as it is wound is determined from movement, speed and/or acceleration data received from at least two sensors of the measuring device and data is stored for use in unwinding the fiber web from the customer roll and serving as control information. Tension variations in unwinding can thus be anticipated and premeditative steps taken to ensure smooth running of the fiber web in unwinding in further processing.

  • Publication number: 20230321858
Abstract: A system (50) for controlling performance of a slitter-winder (25) and/or a fiber web production line (100) has an advisor unit (34, 36, 37) with a processor and a memory including computer program code, configured to cause the advisor unit (34, 36,37) to generate and transmit signals as first control data to the slitter-winder (25) and/or as second control data to the fiber web production line (100) based on information data received from the slitter-winder (25) and the fiber web production line (100) to control performance of the slitter-winder (25) and/or the fiber web production line (100). Performance of a slitter-winder (25) and/or a fiber web production line is controlled by receiving information data from the slitter-winder and the fiber web production line (100), processing the received information data according to a predetermined configuration, based on the processed data; generating signals according to the predetermined configuration to control the performance.

  • Publication number: 20060011766
Abstract: A wind-up is controlled by preparing a winding recipe (13) of a roll, which winding recipe comprises winding parameters. Based on calculatory and/or experimental models, running parameters of the wind-up are determined before the run such that, based on the models, the roll will withstand unwinding taking place in an end-use device without being damaged.

  • Patent number: 5909855
Abstract: A method for winding a paper web in which the paper web is wound by a winder or equivalent winding apparatus onto a roll and the running speed of the winder is controlled based on the frequency of rotation of the roll so that when the frequency of rotation of the roll approaches a range of oscillation, i.e., a range of frequency of rotation of the roll in which intensive oscillation occurs, the running speed is lowered quickly so that the frequency of rotation of the roll is reduced to a level lower than the lower frequency of the range of oscillation. Thereafter, the running speed of the winder is increased so that the frequency of rotation of the roll remains substantially constant until, e.g., the running speed of the winder prior to the reduction thereof as the frequency of rotation of the roll approached the range of oscillation is reached.
