  • Patent number: 6817596
Abstract: The tray column (1) has downcomers (3) for transporting a liquid between adjacent trays (2). The liquid transport takes place in each downcomer through a plurality of discharge apertures (32) onto a loaded tray. Liquid flows out of the discharge apertures in the form of jets (60) that blend into a regionally divergent flow field (6) on striking the loaded tray. The flow field has transverse components of the flow speed with respect to a longitudinal main flow direction (61). Guide elements (4) are arranged beneath the discharge apertures and at a spacing from the loaded tray which each guide the impulse of liquid corresponding to the divergent flow field. The guide elements contribute to forming the transverse speed components such that the longitudinal component of the flow speed has a largely constant profile in each plane perpendicular to the main flow direction.

  • Publication number: 20040047677
Abstract: A ball-and-socket joint, preferably for chassis suspensions and/or steering mechanisms of motor vehicles, is presented, which has a ball pivot pin (1), which is accommodated rotatably and tiltably in a joint housing (8) with one of its free ends with a spherical joint area (3). The other free end of the ball pivot pin (1) is fixed to a body part. The ball-and-socket joint has a stop device for limiting the tilting movement of the ball pivot pin (1) in the joint housing (8), which comprises a stop element, which is arranged in the bottom area (11) of the joint housing (8) rotationally symmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the sphere and cooperates with the end-side joint area (6) of the ball pivot pin (1).

  • Patent number: 6695008
Abstract: The liquid distributor (1) for columns (6) has a main passage (2), a plurality of secondary passages (3) and an outflow system (5) of the main passage. The liquid (4) to be distributed can be fed into the secondary passages in accordance with a pre-set ratio by this outflow system. The outflow system (5) comprises apertures (20) in the side walls of the main passage and—associated with the secondary passages—guide elements (50) for the liquid (41) exiting through the apertures. The guide elements are designed with respect to a liquid guidance such that the liquid (42) can be led into the associated secondary passage.

  • Publication number: 20040014158
Abstract: The invention relates to protein conjugates, methods, vectors, proteins and DNA for producing them, their use, and medicaments and vaccines containing a certain quantity of said protein conjugates. According to the invention, supramolecular particles are produced that represent one or more different, randomly selectable structural units in a large number on the surface of an individual, approximately spherical protein molecule. Icosahedral lumazine synthases are used as carrier proteins for peptides or proteins. A DNA fragment that encodes a peptide molecule is fused with a DNA fragment that encodes an icosahedral lumazine synthase by molecular-biological methods. Said DNA fragment is inserted into a cloning vector and transformed with an appropriate host strain. A polypeptide is expressed by gene expression. If certain peptide structures are used as the fusion partners, a post-translational change of said structures can be observed in the host strain.

  • Patent number: 6575437
Abstract: A counterflow column that includes a liquid distributor including a plurality of tubular or trough-like distributor members. The distributor members are arranged in a column above a packing such that a plurality of partial flows develop in an upwardly flowing gas at the level of the distributor members. Stagnation zones are present between the packing and the distributor members. Through screen-off structure, not required per se for a liquid output, the stagnation zones and/or the flow of a liquid to be distributed are influenced such that a liquid, after emerging from the distributor members and prior to entry into the packing, traverses in free fall through the stagnation zones, and where appropriate also further regions, in which the gas flow is largely free of horizontal velocity components. The gas flow may also be influenced by a suitable shaping of the distributor members.

  • Patent number: 6293526
Abstract: A liquid distributor for packing columns. The liquid distributor includes at least one tubular or trough-like distributor member including outlet openings for an output of liquid in the form of jets. Screens are arranged ahead of the outlet openings onto which the incident liquid jets are deformed to liquid films flowing off. The outlet openings screen the outlet openings against an upwardly flowing gas flow. In the event of a maximum output of liquid, the liquid jets are incident onto the screens at angles that are less than 60°, and even as much as less than 10°.

  • Patent number: 5865285
Abstract: A manual drive for producing rotary movement in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions includes a drive lever which has a neutral position from which it can move into a first or second rotary direction. Attached to the drive lever are a pair of detent elements, one controlling clockwise rotation of the drive wheel and the other controlling counter-clockwise rotation. The detent elements have teething elements on a free end for engagement with a drive wheel which has counter teething about its circumference. The detent elements engage the drive wheel in the neutral position. The detent elements slide in a slide guide which lifts one of the detent elements out of engagement with the drive wheel when the drive lever moves in the opposite rotary direction. Springs located on either side of the slide guide lift the detent element on the drive side out of engagement with the drive wheel as the drive lever returns to the neutral position.

  • Patent number: 3940700
Abstract: A method for the detection of a source generating electro-magnetic oscillations wherein for the purpose of eliminating disturbances caused by foreign transmitters there is measured the field intensity at at least two spatially separate locations, the determined measurement values are compared with one another, and when the difference of both measurement values exceeds a value or amount dependent upon the spacing between the measurement locations there is triggered an alarm signal. The installation for the performance of the aforesaid method comprises a receiver and a first antenna and a second antenna. An antenna reversing switch may be provided for connecting the receiver into circuit with the one or the other antenna. An alternate embodiment provides a second receiver, wherein each antenna is connected with one of the receivers. A comparator serves to compare the signals generated in the receiver or receivers and which signals are dependent upon the fields acting upon the antennae.
