  • Publication number: 20160059283
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a rolling stand (100) for cold rolling rolled stock. The rolling stand (100) comprises at least one upper and one lower backup roll (110-1, 110-2) and also an upper and a lower work roll (120-1, 120-2), which define a roll gap (128). Optionally, a lower and an upper intermediate roll (130-1, 130-2) may also be provided between the work rolls and the backup rolls. In order to ensure an absolutely equal circumferential speed of the upper and lower work rolls when cold rolling in skin-pass mode, it is proposed according to the invention to decouple the upper or lower work roll from its associated drive device.

  • Patent number: 9193444
Abstract: A lift arrangement for an aircraft includes an aircraft fuselage section with an outside, an aerodynamic lift body attached to the aircraft fuselage section and extending from the aircraft fuselage section outwardly, and a pair of movably held add-on bodies arranged upstream of a leading edge of the aerodynamic lift body. The add-on bodies include an aerodynamically effective surface and are equipped with incoming airflow to generate vortices that impinge on the aerodynamic lift body, thus leading to an increase in lift on the aerodynamic lift body. Thus the lift generation on a lift body is effectively influenced, in particular to compensate for loss of lift as a result of icing. The add-on bodies are moveable, and, can be moved to a neutral position in which they do not project into the flow around the aircraft, and are thus not effective from the point of view of fluid dynamics.

  • Patent number: 9119168
Abstract: Methods, program products, and systems for managing a location database are described. A server computer can receive location information from location-aware mobile devices (e.g., GPS-enabled devices) located within a communication range of access points of a wireless communications network. The server computer can calculate average geographic locations using the received locations for each access point. Based on the average geographic locations, the server computer can assign the access points to cells of a geographic grid. The server computer can filter the access points in each cell based on popularity, stability, longevity, and freshness of the access point and the received data. When a second mobile device connects to an access point in a cell, the server computer can transmit locations of the access points in the cell and in neighboring cells to the second mobile device such that a location of the second mobile device can be estimated.

  • Publication number: 20140153999
Abstract: A restricted ball joint may include a passage that has a sidewall, which restricts the oscillation of the ball joint by restricting the range of motion of a shaft or stud that extends at least partially into the passage and makes contact with the sidewall when the ball joint is at a point of maximum oscillation. The ball joint may be restricted in one, two, or three axes. Restricting the ball joint in one or more axes may reduce stress on the ball joint due to flop because the loading of a vehicle tie rod may be carried by the neck of the shaft or by a stud extending from the ball shaft away from the stud when the passage is located opposite the shaft.
