  • Patent number: 6629030
Abstract: A method for recording data from parameter values captured using sensors in a vehicle, particularly for the reconstruction of accidents, as well as a memory device and a device for recording such data, it being possible to record all relevant data continuously using low memory volume, and to save it permanently in a short period of time. For this purpose, the parameter values and/or data calculated from them are recorded at increasing time intervals for the instantaneous capturing point in time at decreasing density. A suitable storage device has a RAM (random access memory) for recording the data in each case over a certain time space and in a nonvolatile memory (such as EEPROM), to which the recorded data can be transmitted in parallel from the RAM within a few ms. An ASIC is suitable for its implementation.

  • Publication number: 20030144775
Abstract: A method and a device for event interpretation and output of operating instructions in motor vehicles are described. The inventive idea is to bundle the wealth of information regarding errors and/or defects resulting from the multitude of sensors and the complexity of modem vehicles, optionally linking it with empirical findings and outputting operating instructions to the driver, so that the instructions do not make excessive technical demands of the driver but instead are adapted to his/her instantaneous situation. The core of the inventive concept is to use an electronic database (24) which contains the technical information including the error codes of devices of the automotive sensor and electronic systems (18) for analysis of event information which informs the driver comprehensively and yet comprehensibly regarding the problems that have occurred. Likewise the database may be the target of an inquiry initiated by the driver.

  • Publication number: 20030114980
Abstract: A method and system for a wireless interface to the electronics of an automotive vehicle for a remote application in the vehicle or within communication range of the vehicle. The remote application may be a navigation system using vehicle motion sensor data to provide or improve a navigation solution for the vehicle. In an alternative embodiment, the remote application is diagnostic software running on a handheld computer that evaluates vehicle systems in a diagnostics procedure.

  • Publication number: 20030101019
Abstract: A method and a device for acquiring performance quantities of a product, in particular until its technical failure, and for determining the remaining service life of the product are described. To permit the most accurate possible estimate of life not based on a model for any products having or accessing a performance data memory without storage of signal curves over time, the determination of the remaining service life of the product, acquisition of service lives of the products and determination of service life threshold values are performed on the basis of performance quantities subdivided into classes (classified). Weighting factors are determined first and then these weighting factors are used to determine weighted, cumulative service lives and service life threshold values. The reliability of s=1 . . . S products is monitored in mass production.

  • Publication number: 20030040849
Abstract: In a method and system for estimating a trajectory of a vehicle having an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), sensor data pertaining to dynamics of the vehicle is obtained, and an estimate of the trajectory of the vehicle is calculated using the sensor data and vehicle dynamics parameters estimated by the ESP. The acquisition of the sensor data and the calculation of vehicle trajectory estimates occur independently of any external signal communication infrastructure-based trajectory estimation tools.

  • Patent number: 6369472
Abstract: A device for acquiring operating parameters on electric motors with an arrangement that is influenced by an effect of at least one operating parameter of an electric motor. The arrangement is designed to store and display the effect. To obtain reliable information regarding the recyclability of the electric motor, the operating time and/or the number of motor starts can be detected by an electronic circuit and stored in a memory from which respective data can be read out and analyzed at a proper time.

  • Patent number: 5839097
Abstract: An electrical home appliance (14) such as a dishwasher, a clothes dryer, a washing machine, a lighting arrangement, a heating system control or the like, which, via an interface arranged on or in the home appliance, can be connected to a bus system supplied to several home appliances and controlled by a single central control computer (17), with the interface being connected to a bus connection module for transmitting control commands and/or sensor signals between the bus system and the home appliance (14). The home appliance (14) additionally is provided with a plug-in position (18) for the detachable plugging in of the control computer (17). A contact configuration (19) establishing the connection between the plugged-in control computer (17) and the interface is arranged at the plug-in position (18). A great flexibility is accomplished since the control computer (17) can also be plugged in at the plug-in positions of other home appliances connected to the bus system.
