  • Patent number: 6668217
Abstract: A method for power optimization in a vehicle/train is proposed, using time reserves which are included when planning a schedule, an overall route to be traveled between a starting stop and a destination stop being subdivided into a number of steps. In order to achieve a power-saving travel mode, with the aid of an optimization algorithm, the kinetic energy of the vehicle and the time are used as state variables in a vehicle model. The changes in the state variables are considered with respect to the distance in each step.

  • Patent number: 6665609
Abstract: A method is proposed for power optimization in a vehicle/train, using time reserves which are included when a schedule is planned, an overall route to be covered between a starting stop and a destination stop being subdivided into a number of sections and each section being assigned a specific time reserve. In order to achieve a power-saving travel mode with the aid of an optimization algorithm, in each case only a limited route area, comprising a predefined number of sections, is taken into consideration for the optimization. The results of the optimization are implemented only for the first section of the route area. The optimization calculation is repeated cyclically during the journey of the vehicle/train, the route area being considered being moved together with the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20030212684
Abstract: A method of remotely modifying a current configuration of an electronic device, which affects at least one function of the electronic device. The method determines, at the electronic device, a changed external circumstance, and then transmits an indication of the changed external circumstance, associated with the electronic device, to a remote server. Next, the method receives, at the remote server, the indication of the changed external circumstance associated with the electronic device. Additionally, the method determines, from a computer database, a modified configuration appropriate to the electronic device, based at least in part on the changed external circumstance. The method then transmits the modified configuration from the remote server to the electronic device, and receives, at the electronic device, the modified configuration. Finally, the method updates the current configuration of the electronic device with the modified configuration, which affects at least one function of the electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20020144012
Abstract: A system dynamically generates interfaces on demand during runtime execution of an application containing a plurality of objects. A user object generates a request for an interface of a service object. The service object, if the interface is not available, generates an adapter request and transmits same to an adapter manager. The adapter manager selects an interface adapter based on the adapter request from a library of interface adapters or aggregates a composite adapter and transmits the obtained interface adapter to the service object. The service object enables access from the user object based on the received interface adapter.

  • Publication number: 20020049842
Abstract: Load balancing method and system for balancing a processing load in a network, wherein load balancer upon receiving a client request selects one of a plurality of processing servers for serving the request. The selection of a processing server may be based on a location of a client and a processing server. The load balancer may comprise a load balancing master and a plurality of load balancing slaves, wherein the load balancing slaves receive client requests and transmit a selection request message to the load balancing master. The load balancing master selects a load balancing slave and/or a processing server for serving the request and generates a corresponding instruction message. The client request is served by the selected load balancing slave and the selected processing server by establishing a communication link between the client and the processing server.
