  • Patent number: 8123221
Abstract: A device for pulling in flat-stock pieces and precisely-aligned transporting of the flat-stock pieces at a work station of a machine for processing the flat-stock pieces has a gripper apparatus that grabs a forward edge of a piece of flat stock and accelerates the flat-stock piece, and a sheet pick-up roller that picks up the accelerated piece of flat stock from the gripper apparatus, whereby the sheet pick-up roller has a roller gripper effective at a circumference thereof for grabbing the accelerated piece of flat stock. The roller gripper can move between a closed position in which the piece of flat stock is held fast and an open position in which the piece of flat stock is released. Suction holes operable to be charged with intake air are disposed in a part of a circumference of the sheet pick-up roller following in a direction of rotation behind the roller gripper.

  • Patent number: 7367444
Abstract: A device for optionally or selectively drawing in a cutout from a stack of several cutouts, or taking over a cutout from a separating cutting device, which separates the cutout from a material web, includes a vacuum guide roller in which the cutout coming from the stack or the cutout that has been taken over can be passed to a subsequent work station for processing of the cutout in a work cycle, at a cycle speed. This device reduces both production costs and machine maintenance costs, reduces the amount of space required for the machine and generates less noise. The vacuum guide roller is configured as a segment roller in which optionally or selectively the cutout can be drawn in from the stack and accelerated to the cycle speed, or the cutout taken over from the separating cutting device can be accelerated to the cycle speed.

  • Publication number: 20070251364
Abstract: A device for the cutting out of flat material blanks from flat material sheets is described, which has a cutting roller and a counter roller working together with it, that form a roller gap into which the flat material sheets can be inserted for the cutting out of flat material blanks, whereby a residual material is produced. This device should be further configured in such a way that on the one hand it is connected with the least possible device expenditure, and on the other hand is not limited in its application to flat material sheets with a specified minimum length.

  • Publication number: 20040195761
Abstract: A device for delivering pieces of flat material, which are cut out of a web, into delivery containers is described. This device is to be so improved upon that full delivery containers can be replaced by empty delivery containers, without having to interrupt the delivery process. In order to achieve this, it is proposed to provide at least a first and a section suction roll, which is driven by way of rotation and can be applies with vacuum to retain the pieces of flat material in the peripheral area of said rolls, and at least a first and a second delivery container for delivering the pieces of flat material, in which the vacuum application can be so controlled by means of a vacuum controlling device that the pieces of flat material alternatively can be fed either to the first or the second delivery container.

There are breakthroughs for suction apertures arranged within the cutting edge. There is at least one suction-air control valve arranged on the face side of the roll body. The valve is rotatable relative to this portion of the roll. The suction-air control valve has at least one suction-air-control channel and at least one fresh-air channel. There are suction apertures for temporarily retaining a letter envelope blank over a suction and transport angle zone &agr;, and for retaining a piece of material cut out by the foil knife across a suction and transport angle zone &bgr;. • Patent number: 5776285
Abstract: Adhesive, preferably pressure sensitive adhesive, is applied to an article f manufacture, such as the closure flap of an envelope or paper bag in such a way that the adhesive is protected against activation prior to closing the article. For this purpose, the adhesive is first applied to a continuous web or tape of a carrier material that either has an inherent anti-stick characteristic or is provided with an anti-stick surface coating relative to the adhesive to be applied. Preferably, the adhesive does not cover the entire surface of the carrier strip, but rather covers only areas in the form of stripes extending at least partly across the width of the carrier web. The adhesive stripes are spaced from one another and preferably also from at least one edge of the carrier web or tape. The carrier web is then severed into strips, each provided with one adhesive stripe and these strips with the adhesive stripes thereon are then secured between two rollers to the surface area to be provided with the adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5558612
Abstract: An article of manufacture, such as letter envelopes, paper bags, shipping uches, and the like is manufactured continuously on a production line that includes a back folding or so-called zig-zagging station which folds back one of the bottom flaps, first in a direction opposite to the continuing feed advance and then in the direction of the feed advance, whereby the formation of so-called bed bottoms or stand-up bottoms for these articles is facilitated. A cross strip (43) of a front or back portion of the article and respective precreases are used as a folding arm and fold lines in the formation of the zig-zag fold.

  • Patent number: 4936816
Abstract: A process and apparatus for opening the sealing flaps of a carton using drive elements for spreading or folding such sealing flaps open as required for packaging cartons having sealed bottoms. The boxes are inverted and lowered from a floating position with the bottom up and the sealing flaps hanging down. The flaps are placed on drive elements which move away from each other and in the flap opening direction. The box is then moved to a packaging area in the inverted position and lowered over the materials to be packaged.

  • Patent number: 4896480
Abstract: A method and apparatus for placing a cover on a box is provided wherein the box cover is first lowered inclined and placed on the opening of a moving box such that its edge leading in the direction of motion grips across the edge of the opening of the box leading in the direction of motion, and its edge trailing in the direction of motion, which edge is inclined upwardly, remains supported. The box is moved or advanced in the direction of motion so that the box pulls the cover from the support supporting the trailing edge of the cover and the latter places itself on the opening of the box. Pressure is then applied to the cover from above in order to completely force the cover over the edges of the opening of the box.
