    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for maintaining businesses rules in a configuration system are disclosed. The presently disclosed system allows systems to be configured using a plurality of rules that are syndicated by a plurality of different manufacturers. Configuration users, such as the sales channel, may then create additional rules and/or configure products with the most recent version of the component attributes and configuration rules, and no single entity is burdened with maintaining the entire attribute and/or rule set.

    Abstract: A suspended ceiling system has a series of nodes interconnected by grid members to define a grid network. Each node includes a connection plate having a central port area that is adapted to form a recessed part of the finished surface of the ceiling system that is visible between adjacent suspended ceiling panels that conceal the grid members. The connection plate preferably includes grid member connecting arms extending outwardly from the connection plate. The central port area includes a cavity adapted for different purposes. This cavity can receive ceiling components, for example various light fixtures, securing devices or a removable access panel that covers the central port area.

    Abstract: A directional sensor array system generally for remote audio collection applications that is modular, scalable, and robust with the modules assembled in layers. The invention can alternatively employ sensors other than microphones, such as ultrasonic transducers and accelerometers. In the preferred embodiment, the sensors are mounted on tiles, each of which performs its own local beamforming using a low-impedance resistive summation technique. The tiles are constructed in a layered, sandwiched fashion and incorporate integral protection from wind, sand, dust, moisture, radio frequency noise, vibration, ambient acoustic noise, and directional acoustic noise, as well as provide inter-sensor isolation. Multiple tiles can be joined together physically and electrically. When joined, a secondary parallel beamforming is performed on the bus using electrical summation.

    Abstract: A ceiling panel clip with improved characteristics includes a torsion spring retaining loop that has a free end captured beneath a frame member of the ceiling panel. The retaining loop at one end thereof is integral with a base portion of the clip and the free end extends downwardly to the base portion. The base portion and retaining loop preferably cooperate to capture a coiled portion of a torsion spring used to suspend the ceiling panel. Preferably, securing legs of the torsion spring are biased inwardly to allow the coiled portion to be inserted on the retaining loop. Release of the securing legs captures the coiled portion on the clip.

Mechanical fasteners secure the connection plate and the ceiling grid members in any of the guide tracks. The connection plate simplifies installation and avoids incorrect placement of the grid members. Preferably the grid system includes at least five grid members equally spaced about a center point of the connection plate.

The spring also includes a securing base that is received and retained within the securing slot of the frame. The panel can also include a securing arrangement for supporting the grid member at a position spaced from the frame to avoid downward bowing of the metal mesh.

    Abstract: The detection, removal and reinsertion of possibly malfunctioning devices from an arbitrated loop is disclosed. When a new device is first connected to a storage switch and a loop is formed and begins initialization, a LOOP_DOWN event is sent to a processor and a loop down timer is started for each port in the loop. If initialization is successful, a LOOP_UP event is sent to the processor and the loop down timer is reset for each port in the loop. However, if one of the loop down timers times out, a problem occurred during the initialization. The port associated with the timed out timer is bypassed so that the devices in the remainder of the loop can continue trying to complete the initialization. The processor initiates a PTBI event on the bypassed device. If the bypassed device is operating properly, it is re-inserted back into the loop.

    Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium for eliminating unnecessary ring transitions is described. Often, a requested system service or I/O operation can be performed entirely at a higher ring level, such as Ring 3, with no need to transition to a lower ring. In these cases, the software interrupt or I/O instruction which generates the ring transition is replaced by a call to a program executing at the higher ring level. Thus, the software interrupt instruction or I/O instruction is redirected to code that resides at the same protection level and emulates the effects of the instruction, resulting in improved execution speed. In the Intel 80×86 family of microprocessors, both the software interrupt instruction and the I/O instruction take two bytes to encode. It is thus possible to replace the instruction with the op-code for a segment:offset far call, letting the instruction stream dictate the offset for the call.

    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for repairing a core plate having a cracked support structure. The method entails the step of providing a vertical compression load path between the core plate and one or more control rod guide tubes. This is accomplished by installing a plurality of load-bearing wedges between the core plate and the step of each guide tube. Each load-bearing wedge is placed between the core plate and the guide tube machined step so that core plate pressure loads are reacted by the weight of the fuel rather than the core plate support structure. The load-bearing wedges can be installed without removing the guide tube or the fuel support casting.
