  • Patent number: 9772721
Abstract: An input/output device for a computing device including one or more touch sensors and one or more force sensors. The touch sensors sense data including one or more locations at which a contact or near-contact occurs. The force sensor sense data including a measure of an amount of force presented at the one or more locations at which a contact occurs. The touch sensors and the force sensors responsive to signals occurring in response to whether the signals are in response to contact or in response to an amount of force. The input/output device also includes one or more circuits coupled to the touch sensors and to the force sensors, and capable of combining information from both sensors.

  • Patent number: 9771981
Abstract: A sealing device including a first annular shield fixable to a first ring, a second annular shield facing the first and fixable to a second ring. A first shield annular sliding sealing lip cooperating with the second ring. At least first and second annular non-contacting sealing lips of the second shield. The first non-contacting lip includes a first portion extending in projection, and a second end extending axially and radially projecting from the first portion; being tapered towards a free end thereof, axially away from the first ring, which come into contact axially when the first annular lip is bent towards the first shield. The second non-contacting lip extends axially projecting from the first shield from the same side as the second portion of the first lip and beyond it and forms towards the first lip an annular collecting channel of possible contaminants which pass beyond the first annular lip.

  • Patent number: 9774869
Abstract: A system and method for resilient signal encoding provide for encoding a data signal to reduce bandwidth required to transmit the encoded signal while mitigating the impact of frames lost or corrupted during transmission. A first frame of the data signal is encoded as an independently decodable frame and is assigned as a reference frame. Subsequent frames of the data signal are encoded as different frames relative to the reference frame. The independently decodable frame and the difference frames are transmitted to a receiver. The receiver decodes the frames and sends an acknowledgement for one or more successfully decoded difference frames. When an acknowledgment is received, a corresponding data signal frame is assigned as the reference frame. Subsequent difference frames are encoded relative to the newly assigned reference frame.

  • Patent number: 9770655
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide techniques for establishing and reestablishing associations between users of game devices. In one embodiment, information about an association between a user of a first game device and a user of a second game device is stored in the nonvolatile memories of first and second game media, the first and second game media being communicatively coupled with the first and second game devices respectively. If the first game device loses track of the association (e.g., the user of the first game devices swaps out the first game medium for another one, or the memory resident on the first game medium is corrupted/erased), an association notification received at the first game device from the second game device may be used to reestablish the association at the first game device. In this manner, previously established associations between users of game devices may be automatically established/reestablished.

  • Patent number: 9772775
Abstract: In a general embodiment, a method includes storing hierarchically-organized global configuration information for each node and each tape library resource in a storage cluster to at least one memory accessible by each node of the storage cluster, the storage cluster comprising at least one tape library. The method further includes migrating and/or recalling, using the hierarchically-organized global configuration information, data to and/or from a tape cartridge pool within a tape library. The migration or recall is performed by an appropriate node of the storage cluster and in response to receiving a migration or recall request at an arbitrary node of the storage cluster.

  • Patent number: 9770783
Abstract: According to a method for measuring the distance between a workpiece and a machining head of a laser machining apparatus, a machining head is provided, which has a housing that has an interior and an opening for emergence of the laser radiation from the machining head. The laser radiation is directed on to the workpiece, after it has passed through the interior and the opening. An object beam is directed on to the workpiece by a light source of an optical coherence tomograph in such a manner that the object beam passes through the interior and the opening before being incident upon the workpiece. In addition to the object beam, a measuring beam passes through the interior. The measuring beam is used to compensate falsifications of the measured distance that have been caused by pressure fluctuations in the interior. The measuring beam in this case may be reflected at a reflective face that is formed on an inner face of an outlet nozzle that comprises the opening, which inner face delimits the interior.

  • Patent number: 9770983
Abstract: A portable hand converter for enabling foot-free operation of a conventional motor vehicle. An upper assembly includes a support plate enabling attachment to the steering column of a motor vehicle and a pivotally attached handle. Two adjustable action arms, pivotally connected to the handle, each include a threaded rod slideable within a hollow tube and an adjustable lock nut for adjusting the length of the action arm. A lower end of each action arm is pivotally connected to a pedal clamp assembly. The pedal clamp assemblies enable connection of the lower end of each action arm to one of the foot-operated pedals of a motor vehicle. Attaching the support plate to the steering column and the pedal clamp assemblies to the brake pedal and gas pedal respectively, and adjusting the length of the adjustable action arms enables total control of the motor vehicle by the operator's hands.
