  • Publication number: 20160233607
Abstract: A system includes a first mating component formed from a self-passivating transition metal to supply power. The self-passivating transition metal has a property of forming a non-conductive passivation layer when immersed in water. A second mating component formed from a self-passivating transition metal provides a return path for the power and forms the non-conductive passivation layer when immersed in the water.

  • Publication number: 20160232448
Abstract: Embodiments relate to apparatuses and methods configured for automatic learning and/or optimizing an order of items appearing in a sequence. Particular embodiments employ an engine to recognize sequences (e.g., lists of items) repeatedly encountered by a user. Examples of such sequences can include grocery lists, and emails present in an in-box. The engine then references available metadata associated with the sequence and its items, in order to present the user with an optimized sequence tailored to one or more criteria. Examples of available metadata can include sensed location information (of the user and/or other entities), temporal information, contextual influences, historical actions by the user, and/or general population habits (e.g., as may be determined via crowdsourcing). Certain embodiments may further generate a modified sequence based upon suggestions afforded by metadata associated with the sequence.

  • Publication number: 20160228631
Abstract: A system for controlling the position of a diaphragm in a diaphragm-containing pressure pod, is provided. The system can include a peristaltic pump, a pressure pod having a flow-through fluid side and a gas side that are separated by a diaphragm, and a pressure sensor operatively connected to the gas side. The pressure sensor is configured to sense pulses of pressure resulting from movement of the diaphragm and caused by the action of the peristaltic pump. A gas source and a valve can be in fluid communication with the gas side of the pressure pod and can be configured to provide gas to, or vent gas from, the gas side. A controller receives pressure signals from the pressure sensor and controls the valve in response, and in so doing, controls the position of the diaphragm. Methods for positioning the diaphragm are also included.

  • Publication number: 20160233882
Abstract: An approach is provided in which a hardware accelerator receives a request to decompress a data stream that includes multiple deflate blocks and multiple deflate elements compressed according to block-specific compression configuration information. The hardware accelerator identifies a commit point that is based upon an interruption of a first decompression session of the data stream and corresponds to one of the deflate blocks. As such, the hardware accelerator configures a decompression engine based upon the corresponding deflate block's configuration information and, in turn, recommences decompression of the data stream at an input bit location corresponding to the commit point.

  • Publication number: 20160228698
Abstract: The invention provides a non-invasive r.f. current treatment device to be used with an agent or treatment substance (20), such as an ionic salt solution. The substance is transported using an electric field generated by the device, such as in iontophoresis, to move the treatment substance (20) into the skin so that the skin's electrical transmission of the r.f-current is increased. The path of any r.f. current is influenced by the distribution of the treatment substance (20) in the skin. Applying r.f. current causes heating in skin tissues coinciding with the path of the r.f. current, allowing skin tissue to be treated that is either coincident with the r.f. current path or immediately adjacent thereto. The region of skin treated with r.f. current may be the upper tissue layers. This renders superfluous the conventional hydration step necessary for r.f. skin preparation, which is poorly controllable and highly variable depending on the anatomic site and the individual being treated.
