  • Publication number: 20140012061
Abstract: Embodiments herein provide a non-invasive tracking system that accurately predicts the location of tumors, such as lung tumors, in real time, while allowing patients to breathe naturally. This is accomplished by using Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT), in conjunction with spirometry, strain gauge and infrared sensors, and by using sophisticated patient-specific mathematical models that incorporate the dynamics of tumor motion. With the direction and speed of lung tumor movement successfully tracked, radiation may be effectively delivered to the lung tumor and not to the surrounding healthy tissue, thus increased radiation dosage may be directed to improving local tumor control without compromising functional parenchyma.

  • Publication number: 20140013004
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for generating and modifying live media streams. A device establishes a session and requests a media stream from a content server. The content server provides the media stream to the device. The content server also obtains an insertion stream for inclusion in the media stream. Packets are removed from the media stream to allow inclusion of the insertion stream. Timestamp information and sequence number information is maintained to allow uninterrupted delivery of the modified media stream.

  • Publication number: 20140012391
Abstract: The invention relates to a ball-and-socket implant (I), in particular an acetabular implant, preferably in the shape of a spherical cup shell, said implant having at least one region with a surface structure (2, 7). The at least one region extends between the equator and the pole of the spherical cup shell. The surface structure comprises a plurality of structural elements (6), each of which is formed by a plurality of intersecting ridges (3, 8) with opposite inclinations. The number of structural elements (6) on the equator (5) or on a circle of latitude near the equator is the same as on a circle of latitude near the pole. The ridges (3, 8) have a curvature such that the inclination of the ridges with respect to the circles of latitude, and thus an angle between a tangent of the ridge curvature and a circle of latitude, continuously increases from the equator (5) to the pole (4).

  • Publication number: 20140013100
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media relating to techniques for forming network connections between electronic devices using visual codes are described. Various configurations make use of one of many possible techniques for encoding data into a visual image. A first device which receives indication of intent to establish a data connection with a second device, can display an image containing encoded data. A second device can capture the image with an attached camera and decode the image to obtain connection information for the first device. The first device can then create a data connection with the second device using the information obtained from the image.

  • Publication number: 20140008746
Abstract: The invention illustrates an innovative way to fabricate low cost, efficient, rigid or flexible mesoscopic optoelectronic devices such as photovoltaic (PV) solar cells or photo sensors (b) comprising three-dimensional arrays of semi-conductive micro- or nano-pillars (3b) deposited from suspensions e.g. by inkjet printing. Said pillars additionally increase the surface area of the device composed of an interpenetrating network of semiconductor particles of mesoscopic (2-50 nm) size forming junctions. In the present invention the active surface area is significantly increased when compared to previous flat structures (a, 3a), being fabricated preferably by inkjet patterning. Additionally, the invention allows for production of much more functional devices when compared with conventional mesoscopic PV cells due to smaller structure density what makes the layer more resistive to mechanical failure when bending.

  • Publication number: 20140007414
Abstract: To correct an unbalance of rotors, a method and a device are proposed by means of which a corrective weight (15) is adapted to be welded to a rotor (2) by means of an electric welding device (14). The device comprises a robot (20) with a jointed arm (21) mounting the electric welding device (14). Arranged within reach of the jointed arm (21) is an unbalance measuring station (1) for measuring the amount of unbalance of the rotor (2) with an electronic computer which computes a corrective weight (15) to be attached to the rotor (2) for unbalance correction and transmits control data to a control device (23) of the robot (20). Under robot control, the welding device (14) picks the computed corrective weight (15) from a magazine (27) arranged within reach of the jointed arm (21) and welds it to the rotor (2) in the unbalance measuring station (1). During the welding operation the rotor (2) takes support on a first supporting device (11) and the welding device (14) on a second supporting device (12).

  • Publication number: 20140008685
Abstract: LED dies are mounted a single submount tile (or wafer). The LED dies have a light emitting top surface. A uniformly thick layer of UV sensitive silicone infused with phosphor is then deposited over the tile, including over the tops and sides of the LED dies. Only the silicone/phosphor over the top and sides of the LED dies is desired, so the silicone/phosphor directly on the tile needs to be removed. The silicone/phosphor layer is then masked to expose the areas that are to remain to UV light, which creates a cross-linked silicone. The unexposed silicone/phosphor layer is then dissolved with a solvent and removed from the tile surface. The silicone/phosphor layer may be defined to expose a wire bond electrode on the LED dies. The tile is ultimately singulated to produce individual phosphor-converted LEDs.

  • Publication number: 20140008468
Abstract: A fuel injector for fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines. The valve includes an electromagnetic actuating element which has a solenoid, a solid core, an external magnetic circuit component, and a movable armature for activating a valve closing member which cooperates with a valve seat surface provided on a valve seat member. The valve has extremely small outer dimensions. By optimizing the dimensions of the electromagnetic circuit, the outer diameter of the external magnetic circuit component in the peripheral area of the solenoid is 10.5 mm<DM<13.5 mm. This increases the flexibility in installing fuel injectors having different valve lengths, which are made possible due to the special modular design. The valve is suitable as a fuel injector in particular for use in fuel injection systems of mixture-compressing, spark ignition internal combustion engines.
