  • Patent number: 8125812
Abstract: Method and device for transmitting outgoing useful signals and an outgoing clock signal. Useful signals and a clock signal are transmitted from a transmitter via a first line pair and a second line pair to a receiver. A first useful signal is transmitted in the form of a modulated difference between the electrical potentials of the first line pair. A second useful signal is transmitted in the form of a modulated difference between the electrical potentials of the second line pair. The clock signal is transmitted in the form of a modulated difference between the average value of the potentials of the first line pair and the average value of the potentials of the second line pair.

  • Patent number: 8123608
Abstract: A gaming apparatus includes a player terminal operable by a player to simulate a slots game, and a random event generator for generating a random event upon which an outcome of the slots game is based. The slots game has a plurality of successful outcomes, each associated with a corresponding prize. A wagering facility enables the player to place a wager on the occurrence of any specific successful outcome of the slots game, or to make a plurality of different wagers, each corresponding to a different specific one of the successful outcomes of the slots game. The different specific successful outcomes include a favorable outcome and a number of intermediate outcomes. The prize corresponding to the favorable outcome is a jackpot prize. The prize corresponding to an intermediate outcome is repayment of the player's wager at fixed odds inversely proportional to the probability of that intermediate outcome occurring.

  • Patent number: 8127057
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system for implementing a hardware transactional memory (HTM) system with multiple levels of transactional buffers. The apparatus comprises a data cache configured to buffer data in a shared (by a plurality of processing cores) memory accessed by speculative memory access operations and to retain the data during at least a portion of an attempt to execute the atomic memory transaction. The apparatus also comprises an overflow detection circuit configured to detect an overflow condition upon determining that the data cache has insufficient capacity to buffer a portion of data accessed as part of the atomic memory transaction, as well as a buffering circuit configured to respond to the detection of the overflow condition by preventing the portion of data from being buffered in the data cache and buffering the portion of data in a secondary buffer separate from the data cache.

  • Patent number: 8123905
Abstract: An absorbent paper sheet is treated with an aqueous wax dispersion such that the sheet includes a fused wax and emulsifier residue in an amount of from about 1 to about 20 weight percent of the sheet based on the combined weight of the fiber, wax residue and an emulsifier residue in the sheet. The fused wax emulsion operates to make at least one surface of the sheet laterally hydrophobic, exhibiting a moisture penetration delay of at least about 2 seconds and less than about 40 seconds as well as a typical contact angle with water at one minute of at least about 50 degrees. There is thus provided absorbent products which exhibit both absorbency and resistance to moisture penetration. The treated sheet further exhibits microbial barrier properties, impeding transfer of bacteria, for example, through the sheet. There are produced tissue products which resist moisture penetration from propelled liquids as well as sequester sorbed liquids in the interior of the tissue.

  • Patent number: 8122771
Abstract: A pressure sensor unit consists of a shaft part adapted to be introduced in an opening through a pipe wall or chamber wall, and a flange part fastened on the outer end of the shaft part for providing sealing around the outer end of the opening. The shaft part inner end reaches in to engagement with a process fluid which pressure is to be measured. The inner end is provided with perforations for admitting process fluid into the inner room of the shaft part. In the inner room and straight behind the inner end it is arranged a block which constitute a base for a separating membrane for transferal of the process fluid pressure via a hydraulic pipe to a pressure sensor element in the flange part. The flange part is constructed as a thin walled pipe, which is enabled because of internal pressure equalization. Thus great savings is achieved by production of the pressure sensor unit.

  • Patent number: 8125245
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention provide a voltage-mode transmitter. The transmitter can include configuration circuitry, bias circuitry, and a set of driver slices. Each driver slice can include driver transistors which drive an output value. The outputs of each driver slice can be directly or capacitively coupled with the transmitter's outputs. Each driver slice can also include one or more impedance-matching transistors which are serially coupled to at least some of the driver transistors. The configuration circuitry can configure a subset of driver slices so that the down (or up) impedance of the transmitter is within a first tolerance of a desired impedance value. The bias circuitry can bias the one or more impedance-matching transistors in each driver slice in the subset of driver slices so that the up (or down) impedance is within a second tolerance of the down (or up) impedance.
