  • Patent number: 9422824
Abstract: Thermal control is provided for a gas turbine casing by supplying thermal control gas from a compressor to a space between an outer casing and an inner casing, and transferring the thermal control gas from the space through the opening in the inner casing via a plurality of holes defined through a plate attached to an outer surface of the inner casing. The holes are arranged with a predetermined non-uniform distribution corresponding to a desired preferential impingement pattern for providing non-uniform heat transfer. A gas turbine thermal control assembly includes structure providing preferential heat transfer from the inner casing during operation of the gas turbine via a thermal control gas flow path from radially outside of the inner casing into the interior of the gas turbine.

  • Publication number: 20160185041
Abstract: Thermoplastic 3D objects are printed directly onto permeable materials with a high strength bond. The 3D object can be attached to the permeable material at one side where the bottom layer of the 3D object can be attached to the permeable material or alternatively, at an internal layer where portions of the 3D object are on opposite sides of the permeable material. In order to improve the adhesion of the 3D object to the permeable material, the bonding layer of the liquid thermoplastic material that is printed directly onto the permeable material can be deposited at modified 3D printer settings that can include a hotter than normal material deposition temperature. Additional build layers of the liquid thermoplastic material are printed on the bonding layer to complete the 3D objects.

  • Publication number: 20160132099
Abstract: By way of example, a low-power processing device is disclosed. The low-power processing device includes a battery power supply, a processor, and a micro-controller. The processor sleeps by reducing voltage to a non-transitory memory of the processor and storing system settings in a non-transitory memory of the microcontroller, which is coupled to the processor via a communications bus. The processor is further coupled to the battery power supply to receive power. The microcontroller is coupled to the processor via the communications bus to send and receive data. The microcontroller sends an interrupt (A) to the processor and the processor receives A and wakes up by polling the microprocessor for an event associated with A and loads the system settings via the communications bus from the non-transitory memory of the microcontroller into the non-transitory memory of the processor.

  • Publication number: 20150382121
Abstract: A system and method for measuring the performance of a plurality of transducers integrated in one or more loudspeakers is described. The method simultaneously drives each transducer to emit sounds corresponding to distinct orthogonal test signals. A listening device senses sounds produced by the orthogonal test signals and analyzes the sensed audio signal to determine the performance of each transducer. By using orthogonal test signals, the multiple transducers may be measured and/or characterized simultaneously and with limited affect from extraneous noises.
