    Abstract: The invention provides for installing encryption keys on a device not having any previous security credentials. An installation authority generates a security token to be used by the device for secure communications, and an installation credential for the device, and stores them in association with one another. A user of the device is provided with the installation credential, whereby the user inputs the installation credential into the device. The device utilizes the installation credential as a temporary security key, establishes a secure communication channel with the installation authority and requests provision of the security token. The installation authority provides the security token associated with the installation credential to the device over the established secure communication channel, and the device installs the security token, after which the device erases the installation credential from the device.

    Abstract: Security against replay of a message by generating a list of unique message enabling codes (TATs) in a first device and storing the list in a second device. A message generated in the first device, which includes at least one of the unique message enabling codes from the list, is transmitted to the second device. The unique message enabling code of the received message is compared with the list stored in the second device to determine whether or not to enable processing of the message by the second device. If the unique message enabling code received with the message is included in the stored list, processing of the message is enabled and, the corresponding unique message enabling code is deleted from the stored list. If the unique message enabling code received with the message is not included in the stored list, processing of the message is rejected.

The messaging component receiving a message and forwarding the message to one or more of the threads using information in a payload portion of the message, which is compared with supplied registration information. In addition, according to the present invention, messaging and job components may be used by each of a plurality of execution threads to negotiate a manner of transferring data between two network computers, wherein the job component proposes a manner of transfer, which is communicated using the messaging component to a receiving a computer. The proposed manner of transfer may be accepted or rejected by the receiving computer. An alternative manner of transfer may be proposed, where another manner of transfer is found to be unacceptable.

    Abstract: An immobilization device and method of restraining vehicles, persons and animals uses tendrils attached to various devices to engage the target. The immobilization device, system and method includes a housing containing launchable tendrils that are launched from the housing by a propellant. The tendrils may be attached to straps or other elements carried by the immobilization device. The tendrils will engage the target and restrain it if it is a vehicle such as a car, truck, boat, submarine, or like vehicle. In stopping a person or animal the tendrils will deliver a marking package, a shocking package or a snare package to mark, shock or snare the target. Straps may be pulled off the housing leaving the housing near the point of deployment.

    Abstract: An Adhesive composition for us in surgery, especially ophthalmic surgery, comprises a mixture of a cyanoacrylate of general formula (I) and an acrylate compound of formula (II) where R4 is an alkylene group and Y is a cycloalkyl group or Y═OR where R═H or acryloyl. It is found that compositions of this type have a number of advantages over simple cyanoacrylate adhesives, including: (a) a longer cure time, allowing easier handling of the joint; (b) a more flexible cured product; (c) a tendency for the cured to come away from the tissue after a month or so thus facilitating healing; and (d) a substantially non-exothermic curing reaction, thereby avoiding thermal damage to the tissue.
