  • Patent number: 6767370
Abstract: The invention relates to a resilient foot insert for an artificial foot, having at least one spring element that determines the spring rigidity of the artificial foot, and an adapting device for changing the spring rigidity of the spring element. In order to improve and simplify the adaptation of the foot insert to the respective use conditions, the invention provides that the adapting device be automatically actuated as a function of the respective loading to which the foot insert is subjected by the patient wearing the artificial foot.

  • Patent number: 6669737
Abstract: The invention relates to a resilient foot insert for an artificial foot. According to the invention, this foot insert consists of at least two springs (1, 2) which are connected to one another and which together-in side view, in the unloaded state, enclose an approximately triangular spring deflection space (3), the upper, approximately roof-shaped spring (1) having, in the roof top area, an adapter attachment (4) and, starting from the latter, a heel branch (hereinafter “heel spring 6”) which extends downward in a concave curve into the heel area (5), and a forefoot branch (hereinafter “forefoot spring 8”) which extends downward in a concave curve into the forefoot area (7), the free branch ends (6a, 8a) being connected to a separate base spring (2) which delimits the bottom of the spring deflection space (3).

  • Patent number: 6383148
Abstract: A method of measuring a body region of a human body includes recording at least two images of the body region from different camera positions, from which the contour lines are ascertained, for example, as a contrast. Used for scaling the images is a reference object with a reference zone, to which the camera is set in a perpendicular or near perpendicular viewing direction by means fan angle-determining device. The reference zone can be defined, for example, by perpendicularly protruding fins. From the projected images of the contour line and the reference zone, an individual model of the outside surface of the body region is subsequently ascertained by means of the reference model. From this individual model a prosthesis or orthesis can be fabricated.

  • Patent number: 6099572
Abstract: The invention relates to a resilient foot insert for an artificial foot, having at least one leaf spring. In order to increase structural strength, the at least one leaf spring comprises a plurality of leaf spring elements which are coupled in parallel, are arranged next to one another and are connected to one another at their two end regions. Between these two end regions, there is a clearance distance or gap between an adjacent pair of the leaf spring elements. An adjustable pressure buffer in the gap adjusts the deformation characteristics of the at least one leaf spring.

  • Patent number: 6092615
Abstract: A manually propelled vehicle has a power assisted drive wheel assembly coupled to a stationary chassis and a control system for actuating the powering. The drive wheel assembly is integrated with a gearless electric motor. The motor includes a stator and a rotor rotatable relative to the stator. The drive wheel assembly includes a stationary wheel support coupled to the chassis and a rotatable drive wheel rotatably mounted to the stationary wheel support. The drive wheel has an outer rim and an inner ring, the outer rim being connected to the inner ring by support members. The stationary wheel support includes a first annular well for housing the control system and a power source, and a second annular well formed concentrically around the first annular well. The stator is mounted to the stationary wheel support in the second annular well and the rotor is mounted to the inner ring, which is rotatably coupled to the distal portion of the stationary wheel support via bearings.

  • Patent number: 6077301
Abstract: The invention relates to a resilient insert for a jointless artificial foot having a base-spring connected to a C-shaped spring. An articulated link between the opening of the C-shaped spring and the base-spring transfers bending moment forces acting on the C-shaped spring as a result of forefoot loading to the base-spring.
