  • Patent number: 10165260
Abstract: Light from an array of laser light sources are spread to cover the modulating face of a DMD or other modulator. The spread may be performed, for example, by a varying curvature array of lenslets, each laser light directed at one of the lenslets. Light from neighboring and/or nearby light sources overlap at a modulator. The lasers are energized at different energy/brightness levels causing the light illuminating the modulator to itself be modulated (locally dimmed). The modulator then further modulates the locally dimmed lights to produce a desired image. A projector according to the invention may utilize, for example, a single modulator sequentially illuminated or separate primary color modulators simultaneously illuminated.

  • Patent number: 9850563
Abstract: Producing a Ni superalloy component in which the superalloy has a ? phase matrix containing intermetallic ?? precipitates. Providing a Ni superalloy casting of the component; solutioning the component by heat treating the casting under vacuum and/or in an inert atmosphere at a temperature above the ?? solvus to homogenize the ? phase; quenching and ageing the solutioned component to grow intermetallic ?? precipitates in the homogenized ? phase. Before the solutioning step: heat treating the casting to produce a thermally grown oxide on the surface, oxide adherent to supress volatilization of Ni from the surface of the casting during the solutioning heat treatment. Performing the solutioning step under a Ni vapor pressure which is sufficient to supress volatilization of Ni from the surface of the casting during the solutioning heat treatment. During the solutioning heat treatment the component is encapsulated in a container protecting the casting from Si-doped contaminants.

  • Publication number: 20170351238
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for checking a compatibility of a functional module for an installation for process automation. An input specification is provided for an input interface of the functional module, the input specification indicating for an input signal all input values that the functional module respectively accepts as valid. An output specification is provided, the output specification indicating for an output signal of the functional module all output values that the functional module provides as intended when the input specification is fulfilled. Operation of the functional module on the installation is preceded by an analysis device checking whether the functional module produces, for each input signal produced on the input interface in accordance with the input specification, the output signal on an output interface in accordance with the output specification. When an output value of the output signal violates the output specification, a module error is signaled.

  • Publication number: 20170317463
Abstract: A fiber-based optical amplifier is assembled in a compact configuration by utilizing a flexible substrate to support the amplifying fiber as flat coils that are “spun” onto the substrate. The supporting structure for the amplifying fiber is configured to define the minimal acceptable bend radius for the fiber, as well as the maximum diameter that fits within the overall dimensions of the amplifier package. A pressure-sensitive adhesive coating is applied to the flexible substrate to hold the fiber in place. By using a flexible material with an acceptable insulative quality (such as a polyimide), further compactness in the final assembly is achieved by locating the electronics in a space underneath the fiber enclosure.

  • Patent number: 9781498
Abstract: [Problem] To provide, at a lower cost, a microphone stand the height of which can be adjusted by an easy operation. [Solution] A support strut (5) of an acoustic characteristic measurement microphone comprises two rectangular-tube-shaped attachment parts (1, 2) that are attached to each other in the axis direction by inserting one of the attachment parts into the other such that the one can slide within the other in the axis direction. A plurality of height adjustment slits (19) that are aligned in the height direction of the microphone stand are formed in a corner portion of the one attachment part (1). In the other attachment part (2), an attachment slit (22) is formed at a position where the plurality of height adjustment slits (19) pass due to the sliding of the two attachment parts (1, 2) in the height direction of the microphone stand.

  • Publication number: 20170225918
Abstract: What is disclosed is a system for detecting a leading edge of a sheet in a paper handling system of a document reproduction device. An illuminator continuously projects a beam of light into a first end of a light transmissive medium. The projected light propagates through the medium and exits an opposite end thereof. The first end is offset from the illuminator to form a first gap. The light is continuously detected by a detector as the light exits the light transmissive medium. The opposite end of the medium is offset from the detector to form a second gap. A paper sheet is transported along the paper path such that it traverses the area defined by the first and second gaps. If the detector no longer detects the light exiting the opposite end of the medium, a signal is given that a leading edge of the sheet has been detected.
