  • Patent number: 6477957
Abstract: An ignition device for a safety system such as an air bag or seat belt tightener for a motor vehicle having an ignition element and associated EMC protection means. The EMC protection means may comprise an EMC suppression comprising a ferrite core, which is encapsulated resistant to pressure. Encapsulation in a pot-like housing or between two half shells, with or without an intermediate coating, aids pressure resistance. Terminal means, such as terminal contacts or lugs, extends through the encapsulation to operatively connect the ignition element and the system's controls.

  • Publication number: 20020083933
Abstract: In a reciprocating internal combustion engine in which a camshaft for actuating the gas exchange valves is disposed in a space, which is in communication with the engine crankcase to receive the vent gases therefrom, and the camshaft includes an axial passage and at least one radial bore and the axial passage is in communication with the engine intake duct for drawing vent gases from the crankcase to the engine intake duct through the camshaft, a disc provided with a radial disc bore is mounted onto the camshaft such that the disc bore is in alignment with the radial camshaft bore and the disc has an axial bore extending therethrough so as to intersect the radial disc bore adjacent the circumference of the disc, whereby vent gases entering the axial disc bore are accelerated in the axial bore and, upon entering the radial bore, oil particles are discharged outwardly through the radial disc bore while the gases flow inwardly through the radial disc bore to the camshaft passage and to the engine intake duct.

  • Publication number: 20020001162
Abstract: An ignition device (1) for a safety system, especially an air bag or a safety seat belt tightener of a motor vehicle, with an ignition element (2) which can be ignited through connecting means, especially connecting conductors (4, 5), is improved in regard to its automatable manufacture and enhanced reliability of operation in that the ignition element (2) is disposed and preinstalled with the connecting means in an igniter housing (3), the igniter housing (3) being insertable into the safety system at an appropriate place.

  • Patent number: 6279553
Abstract: A breathing device for a crankcase of an internal combustion engine, having a balancing shaft with mass-balancing weights. The breathing device is arranged in the cylinder head above the charge-cycle valves of the internal combustion engine and has at least one orifice for the inflow of gas, and a gas-guiding space which runs within the balancing shaft and which is connected to an intake system of the internal combustion engine. A space arranged outside the balancing shaft is connected to the crankcase. In order to reduce construction expenditures and to improve the degree of oil separation, at least one orifice is arranged in at least one of the mass-balancing weights. The orifice opens into at least one axially running feed bore connected to at least one oil-discharging radial bore in the mass-balancing weight. The radial bore communicates the space outside the balancing shaft with the gas-guiding space of the balancing shaft.

  • Patent number: 5586516
Abstract: The present specification describes a boarding ramp which, in use, is pivotally secured to a waterborne craft said boarding ramp comprising an elongate passageway. One end region of the passageway is pivotally attached to a waterborne craft, and a hydraulic ram is connected to the passageway and to the craft. In use, the ram controls pivotal movement of the passageway, and a magnet is arranged on the other end region of the passageway for use in securing the said other end region of the passageway to an unloading location.

  • Patent number: 4723107
Abstract: A hydraulic lifting mechanism, particularly suitable for a battery-powered industrial truck, including a hydraulic lifting cylinder, a hydraulic unit, operating as a pump in the load lifting operational mode, and supplying the lifting cylinder with pressure medium, and operating as a motor in the load lowering operational mode during which mode it is actuated by the pressure medium exiting from the lifting cylinder, and a DC generator coupled with the hydraulic unit operating as an electromotor in the load lifting operational mode and as a generator in the load lowering operational mode. A control valve arrangement is provided at the halfway point in the pressure path between the hydraulic cylinder and the hydraulic unit, which is controlled by a lifting mechanism control. In addition, the lifting mechanism control controls a regenerative brake circuit supplied by the DC generator in the load lowering operational mode.

  • Patent number: 4542374
Abstract: In a circuit for supervising the wear of carbon brushes making normally contact with a commutator of a direct-current electric motor of an electrically operated vehicle powered by an accumulator, and which includes main on-off switch for starting and stopping the vehicle, electrically insulated control brushes carried by the carbon brushes, and movable therewith, and a warning signal indicator normally connected to the control brushes, which provides a selectable optical and acoustic warning signal when the control brushes establish contact with the commutator upon a predetermined degree of wear of the carbon brushes, the improvement includes an electrical memory which has set and reset inputs, is connected to the control brushes, and controls the warning signal indicator. The control brushes set the memory upon establishing contact with the commutator.

  • Patent number: 4234259
Abstract: An internal mixing apparatus for mixing plastic materials, especially raw rubber, has a mixing chamber defined by substantially parallel cylindrical individual chambers. Each of these chambers holds a rotating shaft and the two shafts rotate in opposite directions. In one embodiment of the invention, the shafts have a cylindrical outer surface on which is disposed at least one principal conveying and mixing vane. The vanes on the two parallel shafts are disposed in mirror symmetry so that the ridges of the vanes roll off against one another with or without contact. The principal vanes terminate ahead of the end faces of the mixing chamber, thereby defining free passages permitting the transverse motion of the material to be mixed. Within these passages, the shafts carry scraping vanes for preventing the accumulation of stationary material.
