  • Publication number: 20050047618
Abstract: A system and method are described for rendering a left rear surround input signal at a left rear virtual speaker location and rendering a right rear surround input signal at a right rear virtual speaker location. The method includes phase shifting the left rear surround input signal by a first phase shift. The right rear surround input signal is phase shifted by a second phase shift. The phase shifted left rear surround input signal is phase shifted using an HRTF selected to render the left rear surround input signal at the left rear virtual speaker location. The phase shifted right rear surround input signal is transformed using an HRTF selected to render the right rear surround input signal at the right rear virtual speaker location.

  • Patent number: 6839438
Abstract: An audio rendering system and method are disclosed. The audio rendering system generally comprises front and rear signal modifiers configured to receive a plurality of audio signals representing a plurality of sources of aural information and location information representing apparent location for the source of said aural information. A gain is applied to the signals representative of the location information. A front signal modifier includes a plurality of head-related transfer functions filters and a rear signal modifier includes a plurality of filters configured to approximate head-related transfer function filters. The system further includes front speakers comprising a left front speaker and right front speaker configured to receive signals from the front signal modifier and generate a signal to a listener. At least one rear speaker is configured to receive signals from the rear signal modifier and generate a signal to the listener to offset frontward bias created by the front speakers.

  • Patent number: 6837219
Abstract: A ported pressure relief valve (10) used in an automotive fuel system (F) includes an unrestricted constant bleed orifice (32) for routing pressurized fuel from a fuel pump (P) back to a fuel source (T, M) when an engine (E) is running. A check valve (30) prevents flow from a fuel system back to the fuel source when the engine is off, so to retain sufficient pressure in the delivery system that the engine will readily start when cranked. A pressure relief valve (50) drains fuel from the delivery system back to the source of fuel in response to a pressure build up in the fuel delivery system above a predetermined pressure level so to prevent an overpressure condition which would otherwise damage the fuel delivery system.

  • Patent number: 6462319
Abstract: A method and a cooking appliance has a pyrolytic cleaning control in which multiple stages permit volatile residue to be incinerated before inducing air current flow that can complete the cleaning process throughout the oven housing. The oven combines cooking energy sources, including convection current heating and preferably, jet impingement heating, whose blowers are disabled during a first stage of pyrolytic cleaning to avoid uncontrolled ignitions within the appliance. The second stage of the pyrolytic cleaning process induces current flow to distribute pyrolytically heated air throughout the housing and complete the cleaning process in the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6252206
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a cooking apparatus operates a plurality of cooking energy sources with a control including switches that reduce the input manipulations required by a user in order to operate one or more of the cooking energy sources to complete a cooking operation. The control responds to a first selection of a particular food type from a predetermined catalog of food category listings, responds to a second selection for setting a time duration corresponding to an instructional cooking period or recipe, and operates in response to the first and second selectors for generating operating parameters for at least one first cooking source for a predetermined time and for at least one second cooking source for a second predetermined time over a time period of less than and bearing a predetermined relationship to the instructional cooking period.

  • Patent number: 6015250
Abstract: A platform trailer includes a load carrying main frame and an elongated loading deck supported by the main frame and defining a generally planar surface upon which cargo may be loaded. An elongated side rail is attached to at least one of the loading deck and the main frame so that the side rail is disposed along a longitudinal edge of the trailer. The side rail defines an upwardly opening channel extending along the longitudinal edge. The channel has a planar central portion substantially parallel to a plane defined by an upper horizontal surface of the loading deck and opposing side portions extending vertically upward from the central portion.

  • Patent number: 5888040
Abstract: An improved cargo restraint attachment assembly for use with a platform trailer includes a body having an interior side and an exterior side opposite thereto. A first section is adjacent to the interior side and configured to attach the body to a loading deck of the platform trailer so that the body extends outwardly from and along at least a portion of a longitudinal edge of the loading deck. A second section is configured to selectively secure the cargo restraint device at a desired position with respect to the longitudinal edge. The assembly may secure at least one cargo restraint device at an angle with respect to a horizontal plane to minimize bending moment on the cargo restraint device from force applied thereto by engagement with a load on a loading deck of the platform trailer.

  • Patent number: 5765542
Abstract: A gas burner for maintaining a correct gas and air mixture for low-flame ignition. The gas burner includes a burner cap having a gas inlet and a plurality of gas outlets each having a predetermined diameter. The plurality of gas outlets are circumferentially spaced about a periphery of the cap and communicate with the gas inlet. The burner cap further includes an ignition enhancing outlet having a predetermined diameter and a longitudinal axis. The ignition enhancing outlet is aimed at the ignitor. Preferably, the longitudinal axis of the ignition enhancing outlet is aligned with the ignitor.

  • Patent number: 5503788
Abstract: A method is provided for processing a mixture raw automobile shredder residue, and virgin and/or contaminated synthetic plastic material, e.g., raw post consumer plastic waste. By means of this method, automobile shredder residue produced by a conventional automobile shredder is formed into a first stream by being ground in a first granulating zone to a reasonable small granular size using conventional equipment. A second stream comprising virgin and/or contaminated synthetic plastics material is ground in a second granulating zones. The two streams are combined to provide a processable mixture. The processable mixture is introduced into a high intensity, mixer. The processable mixtures transformed into a semi-molten discharge stream by the kinetic energy imparted to the processable mixture by the mixer are simultaneously vented from the mixer. The semi-molten mixture emerging from the mixer is then introduced into an extruder or press where it is formed into a mass of desired shape, and cooled.
