  • Patent number: 9631548
Abstract: The application describes a system for an engine comprising a direct injection nozzle for injecting gaseous fuel into a cylinder of an engine in a second operating mode; an intake injection nozzle for injecting liquid fuel into an intake port of the engine in a first operating mode; and a valve gear suitable to adjust timing of opening and closing of an inlet valve. Preferential injection of a gaseous fuel such as compressed natural gas directly into the cylinder increases efficiency and allows for reduced heat exposure to the lesser used liquid gas injectors mounted in the intake port, reducing coking of these injectors.

  • Patent number: 9394835
Abstract: An engine method, comprising turning off a second cylinder group in response to engine load falling below a first threshold, the second cylinder group including a first outer most cylinder and its immediately adjacent cylinder and turning on the second cylinder group in response to engine load raising above a second threshold and operating a first cylinder group constantly throughout engine operation; the first cylinder group including a second outer most cylinder and its immediately adjacent cylinder. • Patent number: 9209716
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a control unit, which makes it possible to reliably detect in an electric vehicle whether or not an electric machine is in a blocked state. For this purpose, a current rotational speed of the electric machine (1) is monitored using a control unit (7). If a non-rotating state is detected, the electric machine (1) is actuated specifically for increasing a torque. The current rotational speed is further monitored, in particular for an increase of the current rotational speed of the electric machine, at least a short-term one, for tensioning a drive train (3) against a wheel (5) blocked due to external influences, for example. If this is not the case, it is assumed that the electric machine (1) is blocked, and a corresponding blocking signal is generated.

  • Patent number: 9186998
Abstract: A method for operating an electrical system in a motor vehicle having two electrical machines connected to the electrical system via one controllable inverter each. A regulated generator mode is initiated. A first step detects a drop below a first predetermined voltage in the electrical system. A second step, on the basis of an induced freewheeling voltage expected for one of the electrical machines, selects one of the inverters and actuating such that the electrical machine connected thereto is operated in electrical freewheel, with the result that the rotation of said machine induces a freewheeling voltage in the electrical system. A third step detects the rise above a second predetermined voltage for the induced electrical freewheeling voltage available in the electrical system. A fourth step actuates the inverter of the first electrical machine such that the first electrical machine connected thereto is operated in regulated generator mode.

  • Patent number: 9140176
Abstract: A method to operate a split coolant circuit of a combustion engine wherein a cylinder head coolant jacket and an engine block coolant jacket are provided in series with a pump delivering coolant to an inlet of the cylinder head coolant jacket without being directly connected to an inlet of the engine block coolant jacket. • Patent number: 8851218
Abstract: In a method for determining a power limiting value for an electric machine in a vehicle, the electric machine being assigned an energy storage device, an intermediate power value is calculated from a maximally allowable current of the energy storage device and an instantaneous voltage. A corrected intermediate power value is determined by adding at least one power loss to the intermediate power value. A first correction value is determined for reducing the absolute value of the corrected intermediate power value if an instantaneous power of the energy storage device is greater than the absolute value of the calculated intermediate power value. The power limiting value is determined by superimposing the first correction value on the corrected intermediate power value.

  • Patent number: 8665457
Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for the processing of PostScript print jobs that are not DSC compliant. A single stream of a PostScript data is processed and divided into multiple streams (e.g., page objects), each comprising data operable to render an individual page. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving the PostScript data stream and identifying object tokens in the PostScript data stream. An object token is operable to generate a PostScript object or execute a PostScript operation. A portion of the object tokens may be operable to define page boundaries in the PostScript data stream. The method also includes analyzing the object tokens to parse the object tokens into a plurality of page objects, separating the page objects into a plurality of data paths, and parallel processing the page objects through the data paths to rasterize the PostScript data stream on a page by page basis.
