  • Publication number: 20140053806
Abstract: An engine method, comprising turning off a second cylinder group in response to engine load falling below a first threshold, the second cylinder group including a first outer most cylinder and its immediately adjacent cylinder and turning on the second cylinder group in response to engine load raising above a second threshold and operating a first cylinder group constantly throughout engine operation; the first cylinder group including a second outer most cylinder and its immediately adjacent cylinder. By this method, engine efficiency may increase during partial load operating conditions from low engine loads.

  • Publication number: 20140055068
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for determining or checking the plausibility of an offset angle between an assumed orientation and an actual orientation of a rotor (20) relative to a stator (10) in an electric machine (1). In the method, the electric machine is first controlled in a quasi zero-current state, in which substantially no current should flow in the windings of the electric machine. Then a voltage indicator that specifies the direction of a voltage controlled in the electric machine during the quasi zero-current state is determined and subsequently transformed into a coordinate system that is fixed with respect to the rotor. The offset angle or an angle error with respect to a previously assumed, calibrated offset angle can be determined on the basis of the transformed voltage indicator.

  • Publication number: 20140041382
Abstract: An engine includes a first turbine fluidically coupled to a first group of adjacent cylinders, and a second turbine fluidically coupled to a second group of adjacent cylinders. In this engine, the cylinders of the first and second groups are arranged along a line. The engine also includes a variable valve-lift system configured to admit at least air to the first group of cylinders during reduced engine-load conditions, but to stop admitting air to the second group of cylinders during the reduced engine-load conditions.

  • Publication number: 20130085635
Abstract: In a method for determining a power limiting value for an electric machine in a vehicle, the electric machine being assigned an energy storage device, an intermediate power value is calculated from a maximally allowable current of the energy storage device and an instantaneous voltage. A corrected intermediate power value is determined by adding at least one power loss to the intermediate power value. A first correction value is determined for reducing the absolute value of the corrected intermediate power value if an instantaneous power of the energy storage device is greater than the absolute value of the calculated intermediate power value. The power limiting value is determined by superimposing the first correction value on the corrected intermediate power value.

  • Publication number: 20110222091
Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for the processing of PostScript print jobs that are not DSC compliant. A single stream of a PostScript data is processed and divided into multiple streams (e.g., page objects), each comprising data operable to render an individual page. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving the PostScript data stream and identifying object tokens in the PostScript data stream. An object token is operable to generate a PostScript object or execute a PostScript operation. A portion of the object tokens may be operable to define page boundaries in the PostScript data stream. The method also includes analyzing the object tokens to parse the object tokens into a plurality of page objects, separating the page objects into a plurality of data paths, and parallel processing the page objects through the data paths to rasterize the PostScript data stream on a page by page basis.
