    Abstract: Oil-soluble vitamins such as vitamin A and vitamin E can be entrapped in the oil phase of an elastomeric silicone polyether. The vitamin entrapped oil phase can then be emulsified and stabilized without requiring the use of other surfactants. The vitamin entrapped oil phase and water-in-oil emulsions prepared from the vitamin entrapped oil phase are useful in water-based skin and cosmetic compositions.

    Abstract: Elastomeric silicones, especially elastomeric silicone polyethers, are prepared by combining and reacting (A) an ≡Si—H containing polysiloxane, (B) a mono-alkenyl polyether, (C) an active ingredient such as a vitamin, antimicrobial agent, sunburn prevention agent, astringent, or sex hormone, (D) an &agr;,&ohgr;-unsaturated hydrocarbon, (E) a platinum catalyst, and (F) an oil. The reaction of components (A)-(F) is allowed to continue, forming a crosslinked three-dimensional gelled network of the elastomeric silicone polyether containing the active ingredient and the oil. The compositions are useful in personal and health care applications, personal hygiene, and household cleaning applications.

    Abstract: Encapsulated aluminum salts are produced by combining and heating an aqueous aluminum salt selected from aluminum halohydrate, aluminum nitrohydrate and mixtures thereof; a hydrophobic liquid; and a carboxylate. The mixture is heated until substantially all of the free water has been removed. The encapsulated aluminum salts precipitate out after the removal of the water. The encapsulated aluminum salts are useful in deodorant and antiperspirant compositions.

    Abstract: Flavoring is extracted by freezing cherry juice and slowly thawing it in above freezing ambient temperatures, in the range of about 32.degree.-36.degree. F., while continuously draining off a liquid fraction. Liquid which thaws at ambient temperatures as low as 28.degree. F. can be included with the fraction which is thawed in the above freezing range, but a total of no more than the first 60% by weight of the frozen material to thaw should be used. The liquid fraction so separated comprises an excellent flavoring; the undesirable flavor and color degrading components are largely left in the last approximately 40% of the frozen material to thaw, which is discarded.

    Abstract: A computer hardware (FIG. 1) and software (FIG. 2) system uses a plurality of multilevel, hierarchical menus (FIG. 3) to access basic system capabilities. The menu system is made flexible, and responsive to the needs of individual users by means of a menu table (FIGS. 4 and 7) containing the menu entry text for all menus, the identity of the menu on which the entry is to appear, and the action to be taken if that menu entry is selected. The menu table can be edited by the user (15) in response to local needs and is used to generate (FIG. 5) all menus of the menu system dynamically, on the fly, as needed. In one embodiment, the menu table is broken up into separate tables for each menu level. In another embodiment, secondary menu item selection criteria are added to the menu table entries to further condition menu entry selection on user attributes such as geography or time.
