  • Patent number: 6888329
Abstract: A method of controlling an electric rotating machine for a vehicle includes an electric rotating machine (1) including a rotator having a field winding (5) and a stator having an armature winding (3), a field current controller (9) for controlling a field current supplied from a direct-current power supply to the field winding (5), and a power converter (6) for converting a direct-current power into an alternating-current power and applying the power to the armature winding (3). When the field current controller (9) starts to supply a current to the field winding (5) for starting an internal combustion engine, the power converter (6) supplies a power to the armature winding (3) so that magnetic flux in a direction opposite to that generated by the field winding (5) is generated simultaneously with or immediately before starting the power supply.

  • Patent number: 6847150
Abstract: A rotating electrical machine for a vehicle includes a stator having a multi-phase armature winding, a rotor having a pair of field cores which rotate together with a rotating shaft, and a field winding for magnetizing the pair of field cores, the pair of field cores respectively includes magnetic poles extending in an axial direction of the rotating shaft and being arranged to alternately engage with each other through a predetermined clearance Dc, each of the magnetic poles having a width in a rotation direction thereof is formed in a stair shape to be smaller toward a tip of the width, and the clearance Dc between adjacent the magnetic poles is set within a range from 50° to 70° in electrical angle. As a result, the rotating electrical machine for a vehicle can be obtained in which exciting force of harmonic components is reduced, electromagnetic noise, torque ripple and the like are effectively suppressed, and the productivity is excellent.

  • Publication number: 20040232793
Abstract: The rotary electric machine includes an armature core constituting a stator having an armature coil for charging a vehicle battery with its output voltage; rotor cores disposed inside the armature core with a predetermined gap therebetween and made up of magnetic pole parts formed as claw poles so that adjacent magnetic poles are different and cylindrical parts carrying a field coil; and permanent magnets provided in the magnetic circuit of the rotor cores for supplying magnetic flux along with the field coil to the armature core. The magnetizing force of the permanent magnets with respect to the armature core is set so that at a predetermined speed the output voltage of the armature coil immediately after a field current passed through the field coil is returned to zero from the maximum magnetizing force exerted by the field current does not exceed the charging voltage of the battery.

  • Patent number: 6819024
Abstract: An iron core of a rotating-electric machine and a manufacturing method for the same permit a uniform curvature to be easily obtained over an entire circumference of the iron core. The iron core has laminated magnetic plate strips, a cylindrical core proximal portion, a plurality of teeth projecting in a substantially radial direction from the core proximal portion, and slots for accommodating a winding that are located between the teeth adjacent to each other. The iron core is fabricated by curving both end portions of a substantially hexahedral laminate so that the core proximal portion obtains a predetermined curvature, forming the entire laminate into a cylindrical shape by wrapping it around a cylindrical core member so that distal ends of the teeth project from the core proximal portion, and joining both end portions of the laminate.
