  • Patent number: 4646107
Abstract: An XY plotter apparatus includes a magnetic panel, a writing tool for applying a magnetic field, a writing tool drive and an erasing magnetic field generator. The writing tool consists of an electromagnet which is arranged so that specified characters and figures may be displayed at a high speed on a magnetic panel by the writing tool. Data of a figure to be displayed is inputted into the writing tool drive so as to generate signals for position control and a signal for actuating a switch for a coil inside the electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 4315127
Abstract: An electro-slag welding method using as a consumable electrode a strip of mild steel and an electric insulating material. The steel strip has a width substantially equal to the thickness of the plate material to be welded. The electric insulating material is composed of a slag-forming agent, a deoxidizing agent and an alloying agent and is disposed between the steel strip and the material to be welded, and also between the strip and shoe, if necessary. The electric insulating material used in the welding method is provided in the form of two plates disposed on opposite sides of the steel strip, or in a hollow rectangular form to enclose the steel strip. The electric insulating material is molded from powdered slag-forming agent, deoxidizing agent and alloying agent with a net of a mild steel material, which is used as core.

  • Patent number: 4196335
Abstract: Submerged arc welding process for 3.5% Ni steel which can provide a welded portion having a satisfactory impact resistance at low temperatures such as below minus 100.degree. C. In the process, use is made of a flux having a basicity as defined by a formula (CaO+MgO/SiO.sub.2) in weight percentages of between 1.5 and 3. The weld metal is deposited in a plurality of superimposed welded layers, each having a thickness less than 7 mm so that the weld metal in an underlying layer is thermally affected by an adjacent overlying layer whereby recrystallization is effected in substantial thickness of the underlying layer to provide a fine crystalline structure.

  • Patent number: 4144443
Abstract: A method and apparatus for horizontal fillet welding of steel plates, particularly coated or painted steel plates, in which two spaced apart welding wires are directed toward the line of intersection of a vertical steel plate and a horizontal steel plate to be welded together so that the centerline defined between the two wires intersects with such line of intersection. The wires are alternately fed toward the line of intersection in such a manner that one of the wires is fed to the vertical plate at a first predetermined rate and the other of the wires is fed to the horizontal plate at a second predetermined rate which is greater than the first rate.

  • Patent number: 4003766
Abstract: In welding materials, such as a composite electrode enclosing a flux within a tubular hoop, a combination of a solid electrode and a flux, a core electrode coated with a flux and the like, for welding aluminum-coated steel comprising on weight basis less than 1.5% of Si less than 1.0% of Mn, and 2 to 15% of CaF.sub.2 and 15 to 50% of a mixture of oxides having a basicity ranging from 1.0 to 12.5, the balance being substantially Fe.
