  • Publication number: 20030079712
Abstract: A fuel injection system for a marine engine includes an improved construction that, by the introduction of lubricant into the fuel, inhibits components of the system from rusting in the event that water, particularly salt water, is mixed with the fuel. The engine includes a lubricant delivery system to deliver lubricant to at least one portion of the engine that needs lubrication. A premix lubricant pump is provided for supplying lubricant with the fuel injection device from the lubricant delivery system so as to mix the part of the lubricant to the fuel. An ECU controls an amount of the part of the lubricant so as to be in a proper and extremely small range.

  • Publication number: 20030074114
Abstract: A watercraft information sharing system receives actual watercraft component performance information from participating watercraft and manages the received data at a server in order to provide the combined watercraft component information to registered users. The watercraft information sharing system provides a registered user, a dealer or a manufacturer with the actual performance data of specific combinations of watercraft components. This information allows the user to evaluate the performance of different combinations of watercraft components without having to physically operate watercraft having the combinations of components.

  • Publication number: 20030062007
Abstract: A lubrication system for two-cycle engine includes a lubricant recess formed in a wall of a crankcase. Oil that becomes deposited within the intake passageway is directed to the lubricant recess preferably by a guide groove and pools adjacently below a connecting rod endcap. As the crankshaft with attached connecting rod rotates, pooled oil is drawn into the interior of the connecting rod endcap. Preferably, oil holes are formed radially outward through the connecting rod endcap to throw collected oil around the crankcase chamber when exposed to a centrifugal force.

  • Patent number: 6460407
Abstract: A number of embodiments of direct injected V-type outboard motors provided with a very effective fuel supply system wherein the number of components can be significantly reduced as well as the elimination of many of the flexible conduits normally employed. This also permits the fuel system to be assembled as a relatively unitary assembly that can be then affixed to the engine. The arrangement is such that purging of the system from vapors during shutdowns is easily accomplished and the system can be purged without complicated construction. Furthermore, the system can be pressure tested by an arrangement where the low pressure system can bypass the high pressure system when the engine is not operating so as to be pressurized for testing purposes. However, when the high pressure system operates, then the bypass line will be closed by the shunting valve arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20020108590
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved oil injection lubrication system for two-cycle engines. The system includes an oil tank having a recess and a number of raised portions that allow the tank to be mounted to an engine in a compact configuration proximate a flywheel without interference while providing a passageway for control lines and fluid conduits in the recess. In one embodiment, the system is included in an outboard marine motor. In this embodiment, the oil tank is preferably configured to have an inlet that remains above a maximum oil level even when the outboard motor is raised to a fully tilt-up position to prevent backflow or siphoning of oil back into a supply tank in the hull of a watercraft.
