  • Patent number: 7159392
Abstract: This invention relates to estimation of a particulate matter deposit amount in a diesel particulate filter (1) provided in an exhaust passage (7) of a vehicle diesel engine (10). When the vehicle speed exceeds a predetermined vehicle speed, a differential pressure method, in which the particulate matter deposit amount is estimated based on the differential pressure upstream and downstream of the filter (1), is applied, and when the vehicle speed does not exceed the predetermined vehicle speed, an accumulation method, in which the particulate matter deposit amount is estimated by accumulating an increment determined from the load and rotation speed of the diesel engine (10), is applied. When switching from the differential pressure method to the accumulation method, the particulate matter deposit amount determined in the differential pressure method is used as an initial value of the accumulation, and thus the particulate matter deposit amount can be determined accurately.

  • Publication number: 20060042238
Abstract: A particulate matter deposit amount accumulated in a diesel particulate filter (4) is calculated as a first particulate matter deposit amount from a pressure loss of the filter (4) (S33). The particulate matter deposit amount accumulated in the filter (4) is calculated as a second particulate matter deposit amount from another parameter (S34). It is determined whether or not there is front end blockage of the filter (4) based on a comparison between the first particulate matter deposit amount and second particulate matter deposit amount (S36, S43). When there is a front end blockage of the filter (4), the regeneration device is controlled to perform regeneration of the filter (4) for a longer period than the normal regeneration period of the filter (4) (S22).

  • Publication number: 20060026950
Abstract: A particulate matter deposit amount in a diesel particulate filter (4) provided in an exhaust passage (3) of a diesel engine (1) for a vehicle is estimated on the basis of a pressure loss in the filter (4), which is detected by a differential pressure sensor (12). When the temperature of the differential pressure sensor (12) is not within a predetermined temperature range, estimation of the particulate matter deposit amount based on the pressure loss is restricted, and instead, the particulate matter deposit amount is estimated by accumulating a particulate matter deposit amount per unit time. In so doing, increases in the estimation error outside of the predetermined temperature range are prevented. Moreover, by applying these estimation methods selectively in accordance with the vehicle speed, the precision with which the particulate matter deposit amount is estimated outside of the predetermined temperature range is improved.

  • Publication number: 20060016177
Abstract: An engine controller (20) controls regeneration of a diesel particulate filter (11) deployed along an exhaust passage (3) of a vehicle diesel engine (9). Regeneration terminates in response to a terminating request based on running conditions of the diesel engine (1). When the regeneration elapsed time at the time of termination is shorter than a reference duration, the engine controller (20) adds a time corresponding to a deviation of the regeneration elapsed time from the reference duration to the reference duration for the next regeneration of the DPF (11), thereby completely removing particulate matter accumulated in and around an inlet (18) of the filter (11).

  • Publication number: 20050204731
Abstract: A particulate filter (41) which traps particulate matter in the exhaust gas of a diesel engine (1), regenerates when a controller (31) performs an exhaust gas increase operation which includes decreasing the opening of an intake throttle (42). The controller (31), during regeneration of the filter (41), determines whether or not the required load of the diesel engine (1) is increasing from an accelerator pedal depression sensor (32) or a fuel injection amount (S3), and prevents output decrease of the diesel engine (1) by interrupting the exhaust gas temperature increase operation when the required load is increasing (S5).

  • Publication number: 20050143899
Abstract: A regeneration control device which regenerates a filter (4) which traps particulate matter in the exhaust gas of an engine (1) is disclosed. The regeneration control device includes a first temperature sensor (16, 17), which detects one of an upstream temperature and a downstream temperature upstream and downstream of the filter (4) as a first temperature (Tin, Tout); a second temperature sensor (16, 17), which detects the other temperature as a second temperature (Tin, Tout); and a microcomputer. The microcomputer programmed to compute an estimated value (Tbede2) for the second temperature based on the first temperature detected by the first temperature sensor (16, 17), compute an estimated bed temperature (Tbed2) of the filter based on the second temperature detected by a second temperature sensor (16, 17) and the estimated value (Tbede2) for the second temperature, and perform engine control for increasing the temperature of the exhaust gas based on the estimated bed temperature (Tbed2).

  • Publication number: 20040059500
Abstract: A navigation apparatus displays information required reaching a destination on a display screen to guide a vehicle to the destination. The navigation apparatus includes first and second display control units. The first display control unit displays at least a part of a route to the destination on the display screen. The first display control unit also displays each of main points on the route as a mark on the display screen. The second display control unit determines whether or not a user selects one of the main points. The second display control unit also displays a real image showing surrounding of the selected main point on the display screen on the basis of position information of the selected main point and real image data corresponding to position coordinates, when the second display control unit determines that the user selects one of the main points.

  • Patent number: 6076508
Abstract: During the low load operation, this fuel injection control device reduces the initial armature displacement speed of the solenoid actuator that drives the open-close valve against the low fuel pressure in the balance chamber, thereby lowering impact noise produced in the solenoid portions. When the engine is determined to be idling, a command pulse width which energizes the solenoids of the solenoid actuator is calculated according to the target injection amount, the common rail pressure, and the target fuel injection timing. Since the initial period of the command pulse width, i.e., pull-in current conduction period, is set shorter than the pull-in current conduction period for the high load operation of the engine, the initial armature displacement speed of the solenoid becomes relatively slow reducing the impact noise of the armature abutting against the stopper.

  • Patent number: 5945211
Abstract: A zinc oxide fine particle-adhered composite material consists essentially of a substrate and zinc oxide fine particles adhered thereto. The composite material is characterized in that the zinc oxide fine particles deposited, from an aqueous medium, on the surface of the substrate are firmly adhered to the surface without using any binder and the zinc oxide fine particles are substantially exposed on the surface. The composite material is prepared by, for instance, a method which comprises the step of coming an aqueous suspension of zinc oxide fine particle in contact with a substrate to thus deposit the zinc oxide fine particles on the surface of the substrate. The composite material allows for the zinc oxide particles to sufficiently show their antibacterial, deodorizing, UV absorbing, photocatalytic, stain-proofing and purifying activities without any delay.

  • Patent number: 4232815
Abstract: A device and method for coupling leads to integrated circuit packages via lead frame rail members. The lead frame rail members consist of resilient leads coupled to a first rail and other resilient leads coupled to a second rail. The first rail is connected to the second rail such that the leads of the first rail are separated from and oppose the leads of the second rail. The coupling device consists of a main frame, a spreading means, an insertion means, and a releasing means. The spreading means is coupled to the main frame and is adapted to spread the leads of each rail of a lead frame rail member away from the opposing leads of the other rail such that an integrated circuit package can be inserted between the opposing leads at intervals along the rail member. The insertion means is coupled to the main frame and is adapted to insert coupling material between the integrated circuit packages and the leads.
