    Abstract: An image forming method which includes the steps of providing a developing agent holder for holding one component developing agent layer arranged to contact a latent image holder, developing a latent image on the latent image holder and to simultaneously clean up the developing agent adhering to the surface a non-latent image area on the latent image holder, wherein the cleaning up is carried out under the condition expressed by the following formula:0.5.ltoreq.(Vd/Vp).multidot.m.ltoreq.3.0wherein ghe moving speed of the developing agent holder is defined as Vd, the moving speed of the surface of the latent image holder is defined as Vp and the developing agent adhering density is defined as m (mg/cm.sup.2), and the amount of the remaining toner after transferring that remains on the latent image phase of the latent image holder is set less than 0.35 mg/cm.sup.2.

    Abstract: A transfer device for transferring a toner image on an image carrier onto a transfer material, including a transfer drum, a supporting device for the transfer material in place on the surface of the transfer drum and an electrode for applying a bias voltage to an electroconductive layer of the transfer drum. The transfer drum includes a rotatably supported drum member, a flexible elastomer layer on the peripheral surface of the drum member, and an electroconductive layer on the elastomer layer. The elastomer layer of the transfer drum is made of a foaming elastomer such as a polyurethane foam so that the transfer material is in contact with the toner image on the image carrier under a small amount of pressure and with an ample contact width.

    Abstract: A developing apparatus is disclosed that employs one-component non-magnetic toner. The apparatus includes a movable developing agent carrier that has a surface polished to a first finish, roughened to a second finish, and then metal plated. The agent carried carries a one-component developing agent composed of non-magnetic toner and supplies the developing agent to an electrostatic latent image. An elastic coating member is disposed to press on the surface of the movable developing agent carrier so that the free end thereof is directed opposite to the moving direction of the movable developing agent carrier, and a toner stirring member disposed in a toner container contiguously to or in sliding contact with the movable developing agent carrier. The apparatus provides a uniform toner layer over a long period of time and supplies stable and high quality images.

    Abstract: A developing apparatus comprises a developing roll for carrying a nonmagentic toner thereon, and an elastic blade pressed against the outer circumferential surface of the developing roll to apply the toner thereto. The thin layer is opposed to a photosensitive body to deposit the toner on a latent image on the photosensitive body.     Abstract: In a developing device for supplying developer to latent images formed on an image support, a container in which the developer is contained has a sloping bottom. The container has an opening in its top so as to release the developer particles therethrough. The container houses a developer carrier, which is arranged above the sloping bottom of the container with one end located on the lower side of the sloping bottom of the container immersed in the developer particles, and with its other end located on the higher side of the sloping bottom thereof. The developer carrier has a plurality of linear electrodes arranged thereon, starting from one end to the other end, and has an electric field generator connected to these linear electrodes to successively apply voltages to these electrodes so as to generate an electric field which advances according to a lapse of time, whereby the developer particles are carried along the developer carrier, from one end to the other.

    Abstract: In a recording apparatus of the present invention, a visible image based on image information is formed on an ordinary sheet by a developer. The recording apparatus comprises a developing roller spaced at a predetermined distance from and facing the ordinary sheet and carrying the developer thereon, a recording electrode and a signal source connected thereto, for propelling the developer on the developing roller to the ordinary sheet by generating an electric field between the ordinary sheet and the developing roller according to the image information, a plurality of mutually insulated electrodes provided on the developing roller and extending therefrom in one direction, an A.C. and a D.C. source are connected to the electrodes, for generating an alternating electric field between adjacent ones of the electrodes to cause oscillations of the developer found between the adjacent electrodes along electric lines of force therebetween to thereby liberate the developer from the developing roller.

    Abstract: A developing apparatus has a toner carrier having a horizontal portion disposed near the surface of a photoconductive member on which an electrostatic latent image is formed, and an inclined portion having one end portion embedded in a toner. The horizontal and inclined portions having strip electrodes thereon. A voltage circuit applies to the strip electrodes potentials, which change in a stepwise manner as a time function, so as to form electric fields shifting from the inclined portion to the horizontal portion. An opposed electrode is disposed to oppose the inclined portion. A voltage, which is half the maximum value of the potentials applied to the strip electrodes of the toner carrier, is applied to the opposed electrode.

    Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus comprises a charging/cleaning device which has both a charging function for charging a photosensitive layer and a cleaning function for removing a developer remaining on the photosensitive layer. The charging/cleaning device includes a first common rotatable roller having an electrical conductive contactor on the outer periphery thereof, a voltage applying mechanism for applying a voltage between furs of the contactor and a photosensitive drum. The furs applied with the voltage charge the photosensitive layer and electrostatically attract the developer remaining on the photosensitive layer to clean thereof. The charging/cleaning device further includes a recovering mechanism for recovering the developer attracted to the furs therefrom.

    Abstract: A developing apparatus is used with an image forming system provided with a photosensitive layer on which a static latent image is impressed and which is formed of first and second portions having different surface potentials. The developing apparatus comprising a developing roller which is rotatably arranged and fitted with a large number of hairs for feeding a developing agent such as a toner to the surface of the photosensitive layer in contact therewith. The developing agent is attracted to the first portion of the surface of the photosensitive layer with a strong attractive force and to the second portion of the surface with a weak attractive force. The developing apparatus further comprises electrode tube for removing that portion of the developing agent which is attracted to the second portion with the weak attractive force.
