  • Publication number: 20090267212
Abstract: The invention offers technology for suppressing damage to semiconductor devices due to temperature changes. When flip-chip mounting a silicon chip on a buildup type multilayer substrate having a structure with a thinned core, a core having a small coefficient of thermal expansion is used in the multilayer substrate, and the coefficient of thermal expansion and glass transition point of the underfill are appropriately designed in accordance with the thickness and coefficient of thermal expansion of the core. By doing so, it is possible to relieve stresses inside the semiconductor package caused by deformation of the multilayer substrate due to temperature changes, and thereby to suppress damage to the semiconductor package due to temperature changes.

  • Publication number: 20090052679
Abstract: Characteristic amounts in each small region of audio signals transmitted in the working system and the standby system are extracted by characteristic amount calculators 6-1, 6-2. A characteristic amount comparator 7 compares the characteristic amounts and judges occurrence of fault of a fault. Characteristic amount difference calculators 9-1, 9-2, ?D? comparator 10, and faulty system judging unit 11 judges the system having a fault. Majority decision processor 12 and significance judging unit 13 enhance the reliability of the judgement. Delay difference of audio signals between systems is roughly detected by sub-sampling audio signals of two systems and comparing them, and then accurately detected without sub-sampling. Delay difference between audio signals is adjusted by the detected delay difference.

  • Patent number: 7436890
Abstract: The present invention provides a quantization control system for video coding, for optimizing bit allocation based on visual priority which expresses at high precision human visual characteristics for videos, thereby improving subjective image quality of the whole image even with a limited number of bits. An object is extracted from a picture of an input image (S1) and a gaze parameter V(j) for the extracted object is calculated (S2). Then, a texture attribute parameter t(k) of each macroblock included in the object is calculated (S3). The gaze parameter V(j) and texture attribute parameter t(k) are used to calculate a visual priority parameter w(k) for each macroblock. Based on this parameter w(k), a quantization parameter is determined.

  • Patent number: 7437285
Abstract: An encoding unit encodes data at a first rate during an initial predetermined section of uncompressed data (a), and encodes data at a second rate after the initial predetermined section (where the first rate<the second rate), and encoded data are stored in a storage. The storage is read out the stored data to a network at a transmission rate equal to the transmission rate of the network. A decoding unit decodes received data at the first rate during an initial predetermined section, and decodes received data at a second rate after the initial predetermined section. For finite contents, receiving completion and decoding completion of the received data are simultaneous. In accordance with the present invention, while tolerance with respect to data incoming fluctuations is ensured, playback of dynamic images and music and the like can be immediately started after receiving.

  • Publication number: 20080031339
Abstract: A matching section performs motion estimation upon a predetermined processing unit of input video (p) by, e.g., an iterative gradient method. A motion vector (v) obtained by the iterative gradient method is obtained by the expression v=?·?v+v0 (wherein v0 indicates an initial displacement motion vector and ?v indicates a differential vector). A characteristic amount extraction section extracts a characteristic amount from the distribution of motion vectors obtained by the motion estimation. A parameter determination section determines a conversion parameter ? applied to the next processing unit by the characteristic amount. If the characteristic amount is equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold, the conversion parameter ? is determined to be larger (e.g., ?=1). If the characteristic amount is smaller than the threshold, the conversion parameter ? is determined to be smaller (e.g., ?=0.1).

  • Publication number: 20070220824
Abstract: Perforations of a board for building material are formed by a number of recesses (13), or a number of recesses (13) and through-holes (12). A bottom face (16) of the recess forms a face for screwing or driving the fixing element (70) thereto. • Publication number: 20070134531
Abstract: [Problems] Miniaturization and weight-saving of a fuel cell including a plurality of unit cells are intended together with higher integration of the unit cells. [Means for Solving Problems] A pair of electrode sheet 100a, 100b, each having a plurality of fuel electrodes 110a, 110b or a plurality of oxidant electrodes 112a, 112b supported by a resin section 102, are disposed on a single plane on the respective surfaces of a solid electrolyte membrane 105 to configure a plurality of unit cells. The fuel electrode and the oxidant electrode of the adjacent two unit cells existing on the respective surfaces of the solid electrolyte membrane are connected in series by using an electroconductive member penetrating the solid electrolyte membrane. Since the electroconductive member 108 extends along the stacking direction of the cell, no excess space is required to achieve the miniaturization of the fuel cell.

  • Patent number: 7199819
Abstract: Feature quantities of a transmitted picture and a received picture are extracted from a first and second block-by-block feature quantity extraction parts which are provided on a transmitting and receiving sides, respectively. The extracted feature quantities are transmitted to a block degradation calculation part which compares the transmitted feature quantities and finds the degree of picture quality degradation for each block. Next, a median filter replaces the degree of picture quality degradation for the each block with a median of the degrees of picture quality degradation among the neighboring blocks of the each block. Then, a degraded block detection part compares the median with a predetermined threshold and detects a degraded block. Finally, a degraded region detection part removes an isolated degraded block and detects a degraded region. According to the invention, local picture quality degradation in a frame caused by transmission failure can be automatically detected with high accuracy.
