  • Publication number: 20050040269
Abstract: A spinning reel includes a reel unit mounted to a fishing rod, and a rotor rotatably mounted to the reel unit on a front side, and guard members. The guard members include plate-shaped embedded portions and protruding portions. The embedded portion of one guard member is embedded in the reel unit from the rod attachment leg to the rear end portion and the lower and portion. The embedded portions of other guard members are embedded in the rotor on an outer portion of a cylindrical portion, and on an outer portion of a second rotor arm. The protruding portions protrude from the outer surface of the reel unit or the rotor. The guard members can come into contact with the ground when the spinning reel is placed thereon, such that scratching on the reel unit or the rotor can be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20040155134
Abstract: A spinning reel rotor includes a cylindrical portion, first and second rotor arms, a bail arm, and a second cover member. The cylindrical portion is mounted rotatably to one end of a reel unit. The first and a second rotor arms extend in a direction away from the reel unit while being curved outward in radial direction from a position in opposition, with respect to the radial direction, to an end of the cylindrical portion on the reel unit side. An aperture is formed in the second rotor arm. The second cover member covers the outside of the second rotor arm and has through holes for adjusting its mass. The through holes expose a portion of the aperture. In this rotor that has a rotor arm provided with an aperture, variations in the rotational balance of cover members due to different degrees of exposure of the aperture are suppressed.

  • Patent number: 6694666
Abstract: A removable grip for a fishing rod may be attached and removed from the fishing rod. The removable grip includes a cylindrical main body that is formed by a pair of semi-cylindrical half shells that when joined together define the cylindrical main body of the grip. The two half shells are each formed with an elongated recess that together define a central bore of the main body for receiving a portion of the fishing rod. The central bore is lined with an anti-skid material that engages the fishing rod such that the grip and the rod are not likely to move with respect to one another. The half shells are secured to one another by any of a variety of securing means, such as Velcrol™ strap members, elastic cap members that are fixed to opposite ends of the main body, wedge members that fit into recesses formed in each half shell, or a strap that wraps around the outer circumference of the main body.

  • Publication number: 20030173437
Abstract: A spinning reel rotor is rotatively mounted onto a reel unit of a spinning reel and winds fishing line onto a spool. The rotor is provided with a cylindrical portion, a bail arm, and first and second rotor arms having first and second cover members. The cylindrical portion is rotatively mounted to an end of the reel unit. The first and second rotor arms extend in the direction away from the reel unit from diametrically opposing positions of the reel unit side end portion of the cylindrical portion. The second cover member covers the outside of the second rotor arm and has a plurality of through holes formed in its outside surface. In a spinning reel rotor to which cover members are mounted, it is possible to inexpensively prevent the rotor from being scratched such that its appearance can be maintained without losing the classic look of the reel.

  • Patent number: 6382540
Abstract: A spinning reel rotor whose portions that are liable to contact other objects are kept from being damaged. The rotor 3 has a rotor body 15, a bail arm 16, and a rotor cover 17. The rotor body 15 has a cylindrical section 20 that is rotatively fitted to the reel body 2, and that has a ring-like large-diameter portion 20a diametrically larger than the rest, and a pair of rotor arms 21 including a pair of connecting sections 21a extending diametrically outward from opposing circumferential surface positions rear-endwise on the large-diameter portion 20a and a pair of arms 21b extending forward spaced apart from the cylindrical section 20. The bail arm is pivotally fitted tip-endwise to the pair of rotor arms 21, and is for guiding and fishing line onto the spool. The rotor cover 17 is a member fitted so as to cover the large-diameter portion and external exposed surfaces of the pair of connecting sections, and to allow detachment from and reattachment to the rotor body 15.

  • Patent number: 6045075
Abstract: A double-bearing reel includes a reel frame having an upper portion and a lower portion, a handle rotatably mounted on said reel frame, a spool rotatably mounted within the reel frame, a level winding mechanism, and a rotation-transmitting mechanism for transmitting rotation of the handle to the spool. The reel frame includes a mounting section provided in the lower portion for mounting on a fishing rod and a thumb-accommodating section provided in a front portion of the upper portion for gripping together with the fishing rod. The reel frame further has defined in the front portion between the thumb-accommodating section and the lower portion an opening for introducing a fishline into the reel. The spool is rotatably mounted within the reel frame behind the opening.

  • Patent number: 5855331
Abstract: The reel unit for a dual-bearing reel is a reel unit for a dual-bearing reel in which a fishing line is wound onto a rotating spool, and comprises a frame, first and second covers, a front cover, and a fishhook stopping component. The frame has a pair of side plates disposed to the left and right of the spool, and a plurality of linking components that link the side plates. The first and second covers are mounted so as to cover the sides of the side plates. The front cover is mounted so as to cover the front of the frame, and in it is formed an opening that is longer horizontally and that faces the fishing line guide of a level winding mechanism. The fishhook stopping component is a rod-shaped member positioned along the opening and to the outside of and at a distance from the front cover.
