Patent number: 8118129Abstract: A layout for an exhaust pipe which also serves as a drainage pipe which prevents splashing of water generated in a fuel cell toward a passenger or splashing toward a tire. Humid excessive gas supplied from a fuel cell is diluted in a dilution box by off-gas discharged from the fuel cell and is used for humidifying air in the humidifier. An exhaust pipe is connected to the dilution box, and diluted hydrogen gas is discharged via the exhaust pipe. Vapor mixed in hydrogen gas is condensed in the exhaust pipe and turned into water, which is drained through the exhaust pipe that extends rearwardly of a vehicle body through the interior of a power unit. A discharge port of the exhaust pipe (which is also a drainage port for water generated in the fuel cell) is positioned at the widthwise center of the vehicle body.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2008Date of Patent: February 21, 2012Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masamoto Ito, Hiroyuki Kikuchi

Patent number: 7921948Abstract: A saddle seat type fuel-cell electric vehicle includes a body frame having a pair of right and left main frames connected at their front ends to a head pipe and extending downward therefrom and a pair of right and left under frames connected at their front ends to the head pipe and extending downward therefrom along the right and left main frames on the lower side thereof. A pair of hydrogen cylinders extend substantially vertically along the body frame between the front side of the head pipe and the front side of the front end portion of the footrest so as to interpose the body frame in the lateral direction of the vehicle. A fuel supply unit is provided in a space surrounded by the main frames and the under frames with the hydrogen cylinders being surrounded by a guard pipe connected to the main frames.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2008Date of Patent: April 12, 2011Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshiyuki Horii, Masamoto Ito, Shinji Furuta, Jun Morimoto, Shinji Kawasaki, Atsuko Niwano

Patent number: 7921947Abstract: A saddle riding type fuel cell vehicle includes a fuel cell that generates power by a chemical reaction between a fuel gas and a reactive gas with radiators that cool cooling water of the fuel cell. The radiators are adjacently arranged in right and left sides of the fuel cell in a vehicle width direction. Each outer end surface of the radiators, outside in a vehicle width direction, is positioned closer to the front side of a vehicle body than each inner end surface inside in the vehicle width direction. Thus, each plane portion, which receives an air flow, is inclined to the inner side of the vehicle body, and air courses, which allow an air flow to be passed to the rear side of the vehicle body, are each formed between the inner end surface of each of the radiators and each side surface of the fuel cell.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2008Date of Patent: April 12, 2011Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshiyuki Horii, Masamoto Ito, Shinji Furuta, Atsuko Niwano

Patent number: 7913784Abstract: A saddle ride vehicle includes a fuel cell formed in a rectangular, parallelepiped shape disposed below a vehicle seat. The fuel cell is inclined toward a vehicle rear. A pivot shaft is disposed in a range X defined forwardly of a vertex P of a side-view rectangle of the fuel cell, and defined rearwardly of a vertex Q of the side-view rectangle, and is disposed in a range Y defined below the vertex P and defined above the vertex Q. Foot rest parts are disposed between a steering handle and the seat. The fuel cell is disposed on the side of the foot rest parts, so that the center of gravity G1 of the fuel cell is located on the vehicle body front side relative to the seating part center G2 in the front-rear direction of the center of gravity of the driver at the time of riding.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2008Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshiyuki Horii, Yohei Makuta, Keisuke Koitabashi, Masamoto Ito

Patent number: 7866431Abstract: To ensure that a fuel supply port or hydrogen gas charge port located on the lower side of a seat for a rider in a motorcycle can be opened and closed with less burden. A crosswise groove is provided between a driver's seat and a pillion of the seat for a rider. The pillion is provided with a longitudinal groove extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body. A charge port is located on the lower side of the crosswise groove. A pad to be fitted in the crosswise groove covers the charge port. An arm as a support member of the pad is contained in the longitudinal groove. In the condition where the arm is set upright and the pad is set upright, the pad is inverted and a cushion part thereof faces forward, thereby providing a backrest for the passenger at the pillion.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2008Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventor: Masamoto Ito

Patent number: 7735590Abstract: A fuel cell powered vehicle includes radiators disposed on left and right sides on the skew rear side of a front wheel in relation to the vehicle body front-rear direction. A secondary battery is disposed between the left and right radiators. A thin plate-shaped inner cowl is disposed between the secondary battery and the front wheel. Duct mechanisms surrounding the radiators are provided on the left and right sides of the inner cowl and inside a cowling. Each duct mechanism includes introduction ports for a running airflow, and a discharge port that is fitted with variable-type louvers. A voltage converter unit is accommodated in a straddled part of the vehicle. Radiating fins of the voltage converter include plate-like members erected in the vehicle body front-rear direction that are directed toward the upper side of the vehicle body and are exposed to the exterior of the vehicle body.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2008Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshiyuki Horii, Masamoto Ito, Yohei Makuta, Jun Morimoto
