  • Patent number: 7665385
Abstract: To reduce moment generated at the proximal portion and the supporting portion of a brake pedal and to prevent an increase in weight even when the brake pedal is disposed outside a vehicle body and an operating unit is disposed away from the brake pedal within the vehicle body. A supporting shaft rotates integrally with the brake pedal by being connected with the brake pedal at one end with a supporting member for supporting both ends of the supporting shaft. An operating member is provided for operating an operating unit by rotation of the brake pedal and the supporting shaft by being connected to the other end of the supporting shaft at the position away from the brake pedal are provided. A pedal pad unit includes a flat depressing surface forming portion to be covered by a cover on the front face on which the driver depresses and a mounting portion extending from the depressing surface forming portion in the direction opposite from the cover for being pivotally mounted on the pedal lever unit.

  • Patent number: 7510229
Abstract: A vehicle body front structure for a saddle-ride type vehicle. A side upper part forming an upper surface is provided to a front cowl so that traveling wind flowing in a longitudinal direction of the body along the upper surface of the front cowl flows below the hand grips. The resulting structure reduces air resistance by wind pressure, secures windshield performance and reduces the weight of the front of the body.

  • Publication number: 20090000837
Abstract: A saddle riding type fuel cell vehicle includes a fuel cell that generates power by a chemical reaction between a fuel gas and a reactive gas with radiators that cool cooling water of the fuel cell. The radiators are adjacently arranged in right and left sides of the fuel cell in a vehicle width direction. Each outer end surface of the radiators, outside in a vehicle width direction, is positioned closer to the front side of a vehicle body than each inner end surface inside in the vehicle width direction. Thus, each plane portion, which receives an air flow, is inclined to the inner side of the vehicle body, and air courses, which allow an air flow to be passed to the rear side of the vehicle body, are each formed between the inner end surface of each of the radiators and each side surface of the fuel cell.

  • Publication number: 20080246315
Abstract: To ensure that a fuel supply port or hydrogen gas charge port located on the lower side of a seat for a rider in a motorcycle can be opened and closed with less burden. A crosswise groove is provided between a driver's seat and a pillion of the seat for a rider. The pillion is provided with a longitudinal groove extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body. A charge port is located on the lower side of the crosswise groove. A pad to be fitted in the crosswise groove covers the charge port. An arm as a support member of the pad is contained in the longitudinal groove. In the condition where the arm is set upright and the pad is set upright, the pad is inverted and a cushion part thereof faces forward, thereby providing a backrest for the passenger at the pillion.

  • Publication number: 20080236914
Abstract: A saddle ride vehicle includes a fuel cell formed in a rectangular, parallelepiped shape disposed below a vehicle seat. The fuel cell is inclined toward a vehicle rear. A pivot shaft is disposed in a range X defined forwardly of a vertex P of a side-view rectangle of the fuel cell, and defined rearwardly of a vertex Q of the side-view rectangle, and is disposed in a range Y defined below the vertex P and defined above the vertex Q. Foot rest parts are disposed between a steering handle and the seat. The fuel cell is disposed on the side of the foot rest parts, so that the center of gravity G1 of the fuel cell is located on the vehicle body front side relative to the seating part center G2 in the front-rear direction of the center of gravity of the driver at the time of riding.

  • Publication number: 20080236924
Abstract: A fuel cell powered vehicle includes radiators disposed on left and right sides on the skew rear side of a front wheel in relation to the vehicle body front-rear direction. A secondary battery is disposed between the left and right radiators. A thin plate-shaped inner cowl is disposed between the secondary battery and the front wheel. Duct mechanisms surrounding the radiators are provided on the left and right sides of the inner cowl and inside a cowling. Each duct mechanism includes introduction ports for a running airflow, and a discharge port that is fitted with variable-type louvers. A voltage converter unit is accommodated in a straddled part of the vehicle. Radiating fins of the voltage converter include plate-like members erected in the vehicle body front-rear direction that are directed toward the upper side of the vehicle body and are exposed to the exterior of the vehicle body.

  • Publication number: 20080217087
Abstract: A layout for an exhaust pipe which also serves as a drainage pipe which prevents splashing of water generated in a fuel cell toward a passenger or splashing toward a tire. Humid excessive gas supplied from a fuel cell is diluted in a dilution box by off-gas discharged from the fuel cell and is used for humidifying air in the humidifier. An exhaust pipe is connected to the dilution box, and diluted hydrogen gas is discharged via the exhaust pipe. Vapor mixed in hydrogen gas is condensed in the exhaust pipe and turned into water, which is drained through the exhaust pipe that extends rearwardly of a vehicle body through the interior of a power unit. A discharge port of the exhaust pipe (which is also a drainage port for water generated in the fuel cell) is positioned at the widthwise center of the vehicle body.

  • Patent number: 7284632
Abstract: A motorcycle has a radiator disposed forwardly of the eingine, a raditor cover covering the radiator and having an air discharge port for discharging air from the radiator rearwardly of a vehicle body, and side covers disposed in a position facing the air discharge port and covering both side areas between the fuel tank and the engine, the side covers being contiguous to the rear portion of the vehicle frame and adjacent to the rear wheel suspension. Air discharged from within the radiator cover can be drawn out by ram air that flows along side surfaces of the side covers, to prevent an excessive temperature rise in the radiator cover to the rear portion of the vehicle frame and adjacent to the rear wheel suspension, they are highly blended with each other for an improved appearance.

  • Patent number: 6971462
Abstract: A chassis frame for a vehicle such as a motorcycle is provided with an engine mounted at the chassis frame and an engine guard near the engine spaced apart between chassis frame and the engine to protect the engine. The engine guard protrudes toward the chassis frame. An inclined surface is formed inside the chassis side of the engine guard so as to be oppositely faced against the engine, and an air guide passage is formed between the inclined surface and the engine. During operation of the vehicle, the air or wind passes through the air guide passage to enhance the cooling of the engine. The aforementioned arrangement prevents the disturbance or prohibition of the flow of engine cooling air during operation of the motorcycle while also enabling a relatively high degree of freedom in design with respect to an outer appearance of the engine guard and vehicle.
