  • Publication number: 20170196242
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a beverage that not only allows for rapid replenishment of water, carbohydrate and salt for the purpose of taking measures against heatstroke but also is comfortably drinkable. It was found that sliminess, bitterness, bad aftertaste and unpleasant finish derived from sodium can be reduced by adding coconut water. It was also found that lauric acid, which is a fatty acid abundant in coconut water, exerts an effect to reduce sliminess, bitterness and other discomforts derived from sodium. The present invention provides a lauric acid-containing beverage which is comfortably drinkable since sliminess, bitterness and other discomforts derived from sodium present in the beverage are reduced.

  • Patent number: 8857932
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: a print head; a head tank; a carriage; a main tank; a pump; a displaceable member or feeler; a first sensor; a second sensor; a controller to supply an amount of liquid ink corresponding to the displacement difference amount of the feeler to the head tank; and an environmental condition detector. The controller stores the environmental condition when the displacement difference amount is stored; corrects the stored displacement difference amount when a change in a current environmental condition relative to the stored environmental condition is more than a previously set first threshold amount and below a previously set second threshold amount being larger than the first threshold amount; and detects and stores the displacement difference amount again when the change in the current environmental condition relative to the stored environmental condition exceeds the second threshold amount.

  • Patent number: 8770689
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a recording head, a head tank, a main tank, a liquid feed device, a measurement unit, and a supply controller. The head tank includes a liquid storage portion, a liquid level detection member, and an air release unit. When the feed device feeds liquid from the main tank to the head tank with an interior of the storage portion opened relative to an atmosphere and the detection member does not detect a liquid level of the liquid after a threshold time, the supply controller controls the air release unit to close the interior of the storage portion and determines whether a measurement value of a consumption amount of the liquid is a threshold value or lower. When the measurement value is the threshold value or lower, the supply controller performs a reverse feed control to drive the feed device to feed the liquid in reverse.

  • Patent number: 8628168
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an ejection device, a suction device, and a controller. The ejection device has a first nozzle and a second nozzle to eject a first liquid and a second liquid, respectively. The first liquid contains pigment particles dispersed in a dispersion medium and the second liquid contains a color material. In a first image formation mode for ejecting the second liquid from the second nozzle without ejecting the first liquid from the first nozzle, the controller controls the suction device so as not to suction the first liquid for recovery operation. When the first image formation mode is switched to a second image formation mode for ejecting at least the first liquid from the first nozzle, the controller controls the suction device so as to suction a predetermined amount of the first liquid determined based on solidification of the first liquid to perform the recovery operation.

  • Patent number: 8562090
Abstract: A method for controlling an image forming apparatus including a head having a nozzle for discharging a liquid droplet; a sub-tank for temporarily storing the liquid supplied to the head; a main tank for storing the liquid; a pump capable of forwardly sending the liquid from the main tank to the sub-tank and reversely sending the liquid from the sub-tank to the main tank; and a sensor for sensing a pressure in the sub-tank is provided. In the method, before sending the liquid forwardly or reversely to achieve a target negative pressure in the sub-tank, a pressure sensing function of the sensor is checked by sending the liquid with the pressure in the sub-tank being at a negative pressure range in which a meniscus of the liquid is maintained. When the pressure sensing function is determined abnormal, a control is performed not to send the liquid by the pump.
