  • Patent number: 5034301
Abstract: A transfer recording medium comprises a support and a recording layer formed thereon comprising at least a colorant and a functional component sensitive to provision of light energy and heat energy. The recording layer is composed to have a specifically high sensitivity selective to provision of both light energy and heat energy defined as follows. The adhesion force f.sub.1 between the support and the recording layer and the adhesion force f.sub.2 between the recording layer and a transfer-receiving medium such as plain paper satisfy the relations of f.sub.1 >f.sub.2 at a lower temperature and f.sub.1 <f.sub.2 at a higher heated temperature. A minimum exposure quantity is defined as a minimum quantity of light, with a wavelength to which the functional component in the recording layer is sensitive at 100.degree. C., providing f.sub.1 >f.sub.2 at the higher heated temperature when the recording layer is exposed to the light and then heated. Then, the recording layer provides f.sub.1 <f.sub.

  • Patent number: 5028579
Abstract: An image forming method, comprising: providing a recording medium including a substrate and a transfer recording layer disposed thereon, the transfer recording layer being capable of changing its transfer characteristic when provided with light and heat energies; imparting heat energy to the transfer recording layer and imparting light energy to the transfer recording layer at an elevated temperature under such a condition that at least one of the light and heat energies corresponds to a recording information signal, thereby to form a transferable image in the transfer recording layer; and transferring the transferable image in the transfer recording layer to a transfer-receiving medium wherein at least light energy is imparted to the transfer recording layer prior to the formation of the transferable image.

  • Patent number: 4992351
Abstract: A recording medium has a recording layer comprising image-forming elements (A), (B) and (C) containing at least a compound having unsaturated double bond and a photopolymerization initiator. The photopolymerization initiator in the element (A) is a compound represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## (wherein Ar.sub.1 and Ar.sub.2 are ech aromatic ring or heterocyclis ring). The photopolymerization initiator in the element (B) has an absorption maximum in a wavelength region of 360 to 430 nm. The photopolymerization initiator in the element (C) has an absorption maximum in a wavelength region of 430 nm or longer. The recording medium is suitably used as a transfer recording medium in a recording apparatus which includes heating means and light irradiating means to provide the recording layer with heat energy and photoenergy to change the transfer characteristic of the recording layer.

  • Patent number: 4977058
Abstract: A transfer recording medium comprises a support and a transfer recording layer formed thereon capable of charging its transferability when provided with light energy and heat energy. The transfer recording layer comprises at least a colorant and a functional component sensitive to the provision of light energy and heat energy. The functional component comprises at least a photo-initiator and a polymerizing component of a monomer, oligomer or prepolymer having an unsaturated double bond. The polymerizing component has a melting point of 40.degree.-150.degree. C. Because of the inclusion of the polymerizing component which is solid at room temperature, the transfer recording layer has an excellent storability as well as an increased sensitivity contrast to illumination between under heating and under no heating.

  • Patent number: 4963895
Abstract: An illumination apparatus adapted for illuminating a subject with light comprises a plurality of fluorescent substances each having a different spectral characteristic, a drive device for repetitively locating the fluorescent substances at a predetermined position and a light source for illuminating the fluorescent substances. The illumination apparatus further includes a slit for focusing light on a subject to be illuminated. If the illumination apparatus is incorporated as a transfer section into a recording system such as a facsimile and a copying machine, since the fluorescent substances are alternately positioned at a predetermined location to illuminate a recording sheet, it is possible to obtain a clearly recorded image with high precision and at high speed.
