  • Patent number: 4120848
Abstract: Disclosed are spectacle frames or single parts thereof having a moderate heat distortion temperature, i.e. approximately 60.degree. to approximately 70.degree. C. The spectacle frames or single parts thereof are composed of a cured polyurethane prepared by the reaction of (1) a mixture of two types of diisocyanates represented by the following formulae (A) and (B): ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group of 1 to 12 carbon atoms and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group of 1 to 12 carbon atoms, ##STR2## where X is oxygen or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, with (2) a polyhydroxy compound having a hydroxyl value of at least 150 and an average molecular weight of 300 to 5,000. The ratio in amount of the diisocyanate of type (B) to the total of the two types of diisocyanates (A) and (B) is 0.2-0.7 by mole.

  • Patent number: 4012559
Abstract: A radiation curable coating composition suitable for providing a cured coating of enhanced processability on metal substrates, comprising 100 parts of an acrylic copolymer having a number average molecular weight of 15,000 to 800,000 and predominantly comprised of polymerized units of at least one acrylic ester; 5 to 150 parts of at least one polyfunctional compound having a molecular weight of not greater than 2,000 and two or more radical-polymerizable double bonds in the molecule; and 0.2 to 15 parts of at least one non-polymerizable and nonvolatile organic compound having a molecular weight of not greater than 3,000.

  • Patent number: 3950284
Abstract: A polymer dispersed liquid is prepared by the following steps: (1) polymerzing at least two different types of monomers of the vinyl series in the presence of a block or graft copolymer of the vinyl series containing a component solvating in a dispersion medium (.alpha.) and a component not solvating in the dispersion medium, but being compatible with a dispersed polymer (.beta.) in an organic liquid in which a copolymer of the vinyl series to be produced is soluble; then at that time, uniformly admixing an alkylated melamine-formaldehyde reaction product before, during or after the polymerization, (2) distilling out a part of the organic liquid, thereby varying the solubility parameter of the organic liquid of said polymer solution by more than about 0.5.
