  • Patent number: 5161135
Abstract: A record carrier for recording, reproducing and erasing information. A circular disc-like substrate has a recording layer thereon such that information is written onto the recording layer by changing the direction of magnetization. A guide groove of a plurality of tracks is formed in advance and extends in the radial direction with intervals therebetween. Each track of the guide groove is divided into a plurality of sectors, each of which includes a header portion in which a header signal containing an address for distinguishing at least said sector is formed in advance with pits of a phase structure and a data portion adjacent to said header portion. The guide groove serves as an optical guide for a light beam which records, reproduces and erases information onto the data portion.

  • Patent number: 4748609
Abstract: A composite wobbled tracking servo system uses a rotary optical disc which has a header field and a data field alternately arranged along the direction of rotation to provide a sector, and which includes pregrooves formed in at least the data field and at least one pair of wobbled track marks disposed in the header field in a relation wobbled relative to the center of a track. A light spot is directed toward and onto the optical disc to detect a push-pull tracking error signal from the reflection of the light spot diffracted by the pregroove, and a wobbled tracking error signal is detected from the reflection of the light spot traversing the wobbled track marks. The push-pull tracking error signal is corrected on the basis of the wobbled tracking error signal to attain the tracking control with higher accuracy, thereby eliminating an undesirable track offset attributable to tilting or eccentricity of the optical disc.

  • Patent number: 4723903
Abstract: Herein disclosed are a stamper for replicating a high-density data recording disk, wherein there is formed on a substrate a multi-layered metal film, in which a plurality of metals of different kinds are laminated and which has a thickness equal to the depth of a pit, by an etching technique having a selectivity for the kinds of metals and a process for producing that stamper. Since one or more pits having different depths are formed very precisely, the recording density is increased, and the quality of a readout data signal is improved while dispensing with the plating step. As a result, there can be attained an effect that the productivity and economy can be improved.

  • Patent number: 4171912
Abstract: In an element analyzer exploiting a magneto-optic effect, when a concentration of the element in a sample material to be detected is high, two peaks are produced in the wave form of the signal obtained during the measurement. • Patent number: 4166697
Abstract: This application discloses a spectrophotometer employing a magneto-optic effect which enables quantitative analysis of a sample to be measured by a double beam method. In performing the double beam method for analyzing the sample, a magnetic field is applied to the sample along with linearly polarized light from a light source, the forward scattered light scattered by the sample atoms and the incident linearly polarized light from the sample are converted into two cross-polarized beams of light using an analyzer, and these two beams of cross-polarized light are spectrally analyzed by a single dispersive element. The spectrophotometer of the invention provides an arrangement such that the plane defined by the above-mentioned two beams of light is perpendicular to the plane of dispersion of the dispersive element, and the two beams of light so dispersed are independently detected by separate detectors.

  • Patent number: 4165937
Abstract: A magneto-optic spectrophotometer for detection or identification of atoms or molecules contained in the sample by utilizing phenomena of birefringence or rotation of polarization caused by the atoms or the molecules in a magnetic field is constructed as follows. Linearly polarized lights are incident on a space where atoms or molecules to be detected exist in a magnetic field. The lights having passed through said space are separated into two beams of lights of polarization components perpendicular and parallel to the polarization of the incident lights. The perpendicular components are used as the signal lights, and the parallel components the reference lights. The signal lights and the reference lights are spectrally analyzed by a wavelength selector in which a signal light and a reference light of a wavelength to be selected are incident on an identical dispersive element. The signal lights and the reference lights are detected by respective detectors.
