  • Patent number: 6543416
Abstract: An electrically-controlled throttle valve apparatus includes a motor, a speed reducing mechanism for reducing rotation speed transmitted from the motor, a throttle valve connected to the speed reducing mechanism, and a force applying device applying force to the throttle valve in the direction of returning the valve to its initial position and adjusting the opening of the throttle valve by driving the motor. Parameters of the motor, the speed reducing mechanism, and the force applying device have values such that the operation time t from the minimum to the maximum throttle valve opening, which is determined by an evaluation equation obtained from equations of throttle valve motion, is less than a prescribed target throttle valve operation time t*. Furthermore, resistance and an induction voltage constant of the motor are determined to satisfy a constraint equation obtained based on Ohm's law.

  • Patent number: 6185818
Abstract: In the case where a product having a free-curved surface is obtained, a machining work is performed by separate machine tools. Therefore, works of attaching and removing a half-machined product are necessary. Consequently, a lot of working time and labor are required. Also in an automatic production system, productivity is lowered if the system is stopped by failure in gripping during the attaching and removing works and an enormous equipment cost is required. A machining apparatus M comprises a main chuck head 1 having a control axis for holding and rotating a long bar member W, a head stock assembly 3 having three or more control axes, and a bar member feeder 5 for feeding the long bar member W to the head stock assembly 3. These four axes are simultaneously controlled to manufacture a plurality of products V having free-curved surfaces from the long bar member W.

Abstract: Disclosed is a rare earth-based, magnetically anisotropic permanent magnet material consisting of a rare earth element, e.g., neodymium or praseodymium, iron optional in combination with cobalt and boron and having excellent magnetic properties by virtue of the magnetic coupling between the magnetically hard and soft phases. The magnet material has a structure consisting of crystalline particles of, e.g., Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 B, having a particle diameter of 1 .mu.m or larger and fine crystals of iron of submicron size in a rod-shaped or platelet form precipitated within each crystalline particle of Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 B. This magnet material can be prepared by several different methods including, for example, a solid phase reaction of an intermetallic compound of Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.17 with boron to effect a double decomposition reaction producing Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 B and iron.

  • Patent number: 5582054
Abstract: A method that produces an inexpensive and high-quality male side pipe by forming a seal groove for holding an O-ring only by means of press machining is disclosed. A male side pipe is pressed to form an expanded part at an intermediate part thereof. This expanded part is pressed to form a bulge part. Furthermore, the portion of the male side pipe from a tip end to an intermediate part of the bulge part is contracted to form a seal groove side face and a seal groove bottom face at the side of the bulge part. In addition, the portion, of the male side pipe from the tip end to the point S is pressed for thinning to facilitate the machining on male side pipe. Then, the thinned portion is widened to form a seal groove side face at the side of the tip end. By forming the seal groove side face roughly perpendicular to the axial direction of the male side pipe during these processes, the askew assembly or slanting of the O-ring can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 5581531
Abstract: An optical disk master having a diffraction structure including guide grooves and small pre-pits of a width narrower than a diffraction limit determined by a wavelength of light used is produced by preparing a photoresist layer subjected to anti-dissolution surface treatment, narrowing the spot diameter of a zero-th diffracted beam irradiated on the photoresist layer by a super resolution optics device, and effecting high contrast development to leave behind, as it is, a portion of the photoresist layer exposed to adverse higher order diffracted beams caused by super resolution. An optical disk produced from the master has a diffraction structure including tracks and/or pre-pits formed along a spiral track or concentric tracks and having a width narrower than a diffraction limit determined by a wavelength of light used in the course of formation of the diffraction structure.

  • Patent number: 5295750
Abstract: In a wire-dot impact printer having a capacitance detector for detecting a displacement of each armature by a sensor electrode arranged opposite the armature, a space is formed between each sensor electrode and its associated armature, and a shield pattern is formed with a small space left around each sensor electrode. The shield pattern is fed with a potential at least equal to the potential of each sensor electrode. This makes it possible to reduce the influence of noise upon detection of a capacitance by the capacitance detector. A noise canceling electrode is also disposed around each sensor electrode and is connected to the sensor electrode, whereby a noise canceling circuit is further provided to eliminate noise voltage. The noise canceling circuit can eliminate a noise voltage picked up by the sensor electrode and the noise canceling electrode.

  • Patent number: 5231914
Abstract: A variable displacement swash plate type compressor is suitable for use as a refrigerant compressor for automobile air conditioner. The compressor includes pistons, an oscillating member for driving the piston, a rotating member for oscillating the oscillating member, a plate member for imparting a rotational force to the rotating member, and a main shaft connected to the plate member. A member, having a spherical or cylindrical surface portion and a flat surface portion, is provided between the rotating member and the plate member in such a manner that it is slidably in contact with both of the rotating member and the plate member. Also, movement of the oscillating member is defined by contact of the oscillating member with a stationary member. Consequently, it is possible to provide a variable displacement swash plate type compressor which assures reliable capacity control at a high-speed rotation and which vibrates and wears less.

  • Patent number: 5161135
Abstract: A record carrier for recording, reproducing and erasing information. A circular disc-like substrate has a recording layer thereon such that information is written onto the recording layer by changing the direction of magnetization. A guide groove of a plurality of tracks is formed in advance and extends in the radial direction with intervals therebetween. Each track of the guide groove is divided into a plurality of sectors, each of which includes a header portion in which a header signal containing an address for distinguishing at least said sector is formed in advance with pits of a phase structure and a data portion adjacent to said header portion. The guide groove serves as an optical guide for a light beam which records, reproduces and erases information onto the data portion.
