  • Publication number: 20020184967
Abstract: A wave gear drive has a wave generator with a hub and rigid cam plate formed of titanium alloy. Heat-dissipating fins are provided on both sides of these parts, and heat-dissipation is further increased by plating the surfaces with a material having a higher coefficient of thermal conductivity than that of titanium alloy. The result is a lightweight wave gear drive having good heat-dissipating properties that uses titanium alloy, which is stronger and more rigid than aluminum alloy.

  • Publication number: 20020184766
Abstract: A rigid internal gear 2 of the wave gear device is composed by integrating a tooth-forming ring 12 formed with internal teeth, and a main gear ring 11 into a single body. The tooth-forming ring 12 is manufactured from a ferrous or copper material that has superior strength and abrasion resistance, while the main gear ring 11 is manufactured from a lightweight material, such as an aluminum alloy. The outer circumferential surface of the tooth-forming ring 12 is aluminized to form a dispersed aluminum coating 15, before the tooth-forming ring 12 is cast within the main gear ring 11 so as to integrate the main gear ring 11 and the tooth-forming ring 12. Both parts are reliably integrated so that a large amount of torque can be transmitted, whereby realizing a rigid internal gear that is lighter than conventional models.

  • Publication number: 20020184968
Abstract: A lightweight wave gear device has a similar engagement rigidity, tooth surface hardness, and abrasion resistance as when a ferrous material is used. A cup-shaped wave gear device 1 has a rigid internal gear 2 that is formed of a lightweight alloy, such as an aluminum alloy, and internal teeth 21 are formed with a height that is 1.1 to 1.3 times the height used for internal gears that are made of a ferrous material. A hard, electrolessly plated coating is also formed on the tooth surface 21a of the internal teeth 21. By doing so, a lightweight wave gear device can be obtained with a similar engagement rigidity, tooth surface strength, and abrasion resistance to a wave gear device that has a rigid internal gear formed of a ferrous material.

  • Publication number: 20020178861
Abstract: According to a lubrication mechanism for a wave gear device 1, frictionally contacting parts 5 of toothed parts of gears 2 and 3 are lubricated using a lubricant with a high base oil viscosity and favorable shear stability. Frictionally contacting parts 7 of the external gear 3 and wave generator 4 and frictionally contacting parts 9 on the inside of wave bearing 42 are respectively lubricated using solid lubricants 8 and 10 that are produced by mixing a low base oil viscosity grease with a resin with low deformation resistance and hardening the mixture by heating. In this way, the lubrication life is extended without causing decreases in the efficiency of the wave gear device.

  • Publication number: 20020174742
Abstract: A lightweight bearing and wave gear drive are provided. An outer or inner bearing ring of the bearing has fixing holes to enable the ring to be attached to another member. The parts of the bearing on which raceway surfaces are formed are made of an iron-based material, while the main bearing ring member is formed of a lightweight material that is lighter than the iron-based material. Surface portions that constitute fixing bolt seats are plated to increase the strength of such portions. The wave gear drive includes a rigid internal gear, a flexible external gear located inside the internal gear, and a wave generator located inside the external gear. The internal and external gears are coupled by the lightweight bearing in a way that allows the gears to rotate relative to each other.

  • Publication number: 20020174741
Abstract: A wave gear device does not need to be lubricated. In a cup-shaped wave gear device 1, the inner ring 43 and balls 45 of the wave bearing 42 of the wave generator 4 are made of a ceramic material, while the outer ring 44 of the wave bearing 42 is made of SUJ2 or stainless steel. A DLC coating 302 is formed by a DLC coating process on a rolling surface 48 formed in the inner circumferential surface of the outer ring 44, a DLC coating 303 is formed by a DLC coating process on a rolling surface 47 in the outer circumferential surface of the inner ring 43, and DLC coatings 304 are formed by a DLC coating process on the surfaces of the balls 45. With this, non-lubricated wave gear device can be obtained. Since the agitating resistance of a lubricant can also be eradicated from these parts of the wave bearing, a large decrease can be made in the power loss ratio.

  • Publication number: 20020131718
Abstract: The present invention provides an optical connector for coupling one optical fiber wire 18 with another optical fiber wire 18′ in physical contact. The optical connector comprises a receiving portion 21 including a support region 22 adapted to support the optical fiber wires 18, 18′ along the axis of said receiving portion. The axis 24 of the receiving portion is offset from the axis 25 of the optical fiber wire in a posture of being ready to be inserted into the receiving portion 21. When the optical fiber wire 18 is inserted into the receiving portion 21, the inserted optical fiber wire 18 is brought into contact with and bent by a guide region 23, and then the optical fiber wire is sidably moved along the support region 22 of the receiving portion 21. Finally, with keeping the optical fiber wire to be supported by the support region 22, the end of the optical fiber wire 18 is brought into physical contact with the end of another optical fiber wire 18′.
