  • Publication number: 20030162427
Abstract: A lever-type connector assembly has mating female and male connectors (10, 50). The female connector (10) has a lever (40) with a cam plate (41) and a resilient lock (46) that is deformable within the plane of the cam plate (41). The resilient lock (46) engages a receiving portion (33A) on the female connector (10) for holding the lever (40) at an initial position. The connector (50) has an unlocking rib (55) that deforms the resilient lock (46) out of engagement with the receiving portion (33A). As a result, the lever (40) can rotate for connecting the connectors (10, 50). Since the resilient lock (46) deforms in the plane of the cam plate (41), there is no need to provide space for deformation of the resilient lock (46) along a thickness direction of the cam plate (41).

  • Patent number: 6464548
Abstract: A female terminal fitting (20) has a main body (21) in the form of a rectangular tube. An elastic contact piece (27) is formed by folding back an extending part of a vertical wall (26) on the main body (21). An accommodation space (28) is defined in the main body (21) upward from the elastic contact piece (27). A male terminal fitting (10) can be inserted into the accommodation space (28) and displaced downward to bring the male terminal fitting (10) into contact with the elastic contact piece (27). Restricting projections (37, 38) project from upper and lower sides of the elastic contact piece (27) and are held in contact with a receiving portion (36) that bulges out from the vertical wall (26). The restricting projections (37, 38) prevent the elastic contact piece (27) from being deformed in response to forces exerted by the male terminal fitting (10).

  • Publication number: 20020115335
Abstract: A connector has L-shaped female terminal fittings (42), and wires (70) are fastened to a wire fastening portion (55) at one side of the L-shaped female terminal fitting (42). The female terminal fittings (42) are accommodated in a connector housing, and the wires (70) are pulled out in a direction normal to a connector connecting direction. Thus it is not necessary to provide a space to bend the wires (70) behind the connector with respect to the connecting direction, and the wires (70) can be handled easily even if there is little space behind the connector.

  • Patent number: 6431896
Abstract: When the holder 20 is assembled to the male side housing 10 (stationary side housing), the cam grooves 23a, 23b respectively engage with the cam pins 41a, 41b, so that the female side housing 40 (movable side housing) is displaced in a direction perpendicular to the assembling direction and located at the connecting position, so that both the terminal metal fittings 18, 50 are connected with each other. At this time, due to the friction caused between the terminal metal fittings 18, 50, a force resisting displacement of the female side housing 40 and also resisting assembly of the holder 20 is generated. However, a cam action is exerted by the cam grooves 23a, 23b which are oblique with respect to the assembling direction. Therefore, an intensity of the operation force to be given to the holder 20 in the assembling direction is low. When the above structure is adopted, it is unnecessary to provide a manual operation member which is independent as an assembly force reducing means.

  • Patent number: 6372990
Abstract: A terminal is provided for stable mounting at a predetermined position of the leading end of a coaxial cable. The terminal 1 has rear side formed with a barrel 7 to be crimped into connection with the coaxial cable 2. A cover 11 is integrally provided before the barrel 7 for covering an exposed section of a core 3 of the coaxial cable 2. An embossed positioning portion 12 is formed between the barrel 7 and the cover 11. When the terminal 1 is mounted on a stripped end of the cable 2, the front end of a folded section 5A contacts a locking edge 12C of the positioning portion 12, thereby restricting any further insertion of the coaxial cable 2. Thus, the terminal 1 can be automatically positioned on the coaxial cable 2 with respect to the longitudinal direction of the coaxial cable 2.
