  • Patent number: 7222076
Abstract: The present invention relates to a voice output apparatus capable of, in response to a particular stimulus, stopping outputting a voice and outputting a reaction. The voice output apparatus is capable of outputting a voice in a natural manner. A rule-based synthesizer 24 produces a synthesized voice and outputs it. For example, when a synthesized voice “Where is an exit” was produced and outputting of the synthesized voice data has proceeded until “Where is an e” has been output, if a user taps a robot, then a reaction generator 30 determines, by referring to a reaction database 31, that a reaction voice “Ouch!” should be output in response to being tapped. The reaction generator 30 then controls an output controller 27 so as to stop outputting the synthesized voice “Where is an exit?” and output the reaction voice “Ouch!”.

  • Patent number: 6983231
Abstract: In an information processing device and method, and programs, firstly, new second inheritance data is created based on first inheritance data regulating the shape and/or behaviors of a virtual creature and secondly, the gene data of the virtual creature is diagnosed and a given value added is applied to the virtual creature when it is determined based on the diagnostic result that the gene data satisfies predetermined conditions and thirdly, information on parents of virtual creatures which are sequentially created by mixing and registered, is stored and a pedigree of a designated virtual creature is inquired into based on the information. On the other hand, a data storing device is provided with a first storage means for storing inheritance data to regulate the shape and/or behaviors of a virtual creature, a communication means for transmitting/receiving inheritance data to/from the outside, and a second storing means for storing the inheritance data of other virtual creatures via the communication means.

  • Publication number: 20050038820
Abstract: A method and a system wherein IC card information can be changed in either of two ways is provided. The information stored in an IC card can be changed independently of the information that a center facility maintains, and then the corresponding IC card information maintained by the center facility is updated to reflect the changes made in the IC card. Alternatively, the IC card information maintained in the center facility is changed, and then the corresponding information in the IC card is updated to reflect those changes.

  • Patent number: 6710734
Abstract: An interpolation parallel AD converter is provided in which a switch is installed at each pre-amplifier in a first pre-amplifier array for selectively short-circuiting a portion between a comparison input end and a reference input end thereof, while a load transistor, a switch for selectively diode-connecting the load transistor, and a capacitor for keeping a voltage when the load transistor is diode-connected are installed in a pre-amplifier in a second pre-amplifier array. An offset occurring in each pre-amplifier in the first pre-amplifier array is suppressed by a compression effect of using a gain difference between a reset mode and an amplification mode.

  • Publication number: 20040054519
Abstract: The present invention relates to a language processing apparatus capable of generating an effective synthesized sound by performing language processing taking into account an onomatopoeia or a mimetic word. An effective synthesized voice is produced from a given text such that the synthesized voice includes a “sound” representing the meaning of an onomatopoeia or a mimetic word included in the given text. An onomatopoeic/mimetic word analyzer 21 extracts the onomatopoeia or the mimetic word from the text, and an onomatopoeic/mimetic word processing unit 27 produces acoustic data of a sound effect corresponding to the extracted onomatopoeia or mimetic word. A voice mixer 26 superimposes the acoustic data produced by the onomatopoeic/mimetic word processing unit 27 on the whole or a part of the synthesized voice data, corresponding to the text, produced by a rule-based synthesizer 24. The present invention may be applied to a robot having a voice synthesizer.
