  • Publication number: 20040128770
Abstract: A fabric having a unique combination of stain resistance, fluid barrier properties, aesthetic characteristics and drape ability is described, and a method of making such fabrics. The fabric includes a fabric substrate that has been treated with a low surface energy stain resist compound on at least one of its surfaces, and one or more layers secured to the other of its surfaces, with the layers providing the fabric with the unique combination of characteristics. In addition, the fabric is desirably provided with flame resisting and ultraviolet resisting characteristics, to enable it to be used as a seating material for transportation vehicles. Methods for making the fabric are also described.

  • Publication number: 20030124352
Abstract: Resin laminate mat is produced by laminating an outer layer comprising a transparent base resin and highly luminant particles dispersed in the transparent resin, and a back layer made of a colored resin. Back layer is composed of upper layer containing a coloring agent and lower layer containing a filler. Preferably, the transparent base resin of the outer layer is mainly composed of a linear low-density polyethylene resin, while the back layer is mainly composed of a mixture of a linear low-density polyethylene resin and a low-density polyethylene resin.

  • Patent number: 6048022
Abstract: A hood or trunk lid is a blow-molded article and includes an outer skin and a stiffener integral with the outer skin. The stiffener has a tub-like molded portion which extends in a widthwise direction of a vehicle body and protrudes toward the outer skin. A ridge of the tub-like molded portion is spaced apart from the outer skin, so that the hood or trunk lid is folded from a start point provided by the tub-like molded portion by a shock force from a collision.

  • Patent number: 5227113
Abstract: A process for the high speed production of fiber reinforced plastic moldings forms several preforms which are solidified with chopped fibers, resin powders and a binder and are held between two preheating plates. Each plate is formed of a thin metal plate and will preheat the preforms to a temperature higher than the melting point of the resin. While the preforms are held between the preheating plates, the preforms are cold-pressed in a mold maintained at a temperature lower than the melting point of the resin for simultaneous impregnation and cooling of the resin. In addition, a preforming mold is placed in a vacuum chamber and precut chopped fibers are positioned in a tank. The preforming mold is placed into the tank and an exhauster is actuated to vacuumize both the vacuum chamber and the preforming mold, thereby adsorbing the chopped fibers in the tank onto the preforming mold and forming on the surface of the preforming mold an unsolidified preform comprising the chopped fibers.
