Abstract: A content providing system that provides content to a user terminal via a network includes a content providing server that is connected to the network and provides content, an SIP proxy server that is connected to the network and relays transmission and reception between the user terminal and the content providing server, and a monitoring server that is connected to the network and stores monitoring information regarding transmission and reception between the user terminal and the content providing server, the monitoring information being transmitted from the SIP proxy server.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a program guide providing system including: a terminal; a content providing server including a service providing section for providing programs and a related service to the terminal in response to a request from the terminal; a SIP proxy server; a program guide providing server including a communication history acquisition section for acquiring a communication history between the content providing server and the terminal, a communication history storage section, an audience situation calculation section for calculating an audience situation concerning each of the programs based on the communication history, a program guide generation section for generating a program guide in which each program is assigned an indicator based on the audience situation, and a program guide providing section for providing the program guide to the terminal; and an NGN to which the terminal, the content providing server, the SIP proxy server, and the program guide providing server are connected.

Abstract: A packet transmission apparatus is provided. The packet transmission apparatus transmits a packet having a limited arrival deadline through a best-effort network. The packet transmission apparatus includes an automatic packet retransmission section to control retransmission of an undelivered packet, a forward error correction coding section to add a redundant packet to a data packet block, and a redundancy determining section to dynamically determine redundancy of the redundant packet based on observed network state information, so that a loss rate after error correction at a receiver achieved by only the retransmission of the undelivered packet satisfies an allowable loss rate after error correction.

Abstract: A transmission and reception system is provided. Based on sequence numbers stored in a normal packet information storage unit, a sequence control unit provides normal packets stored in a transmission buffer with sequence numbers so as to be consecutive to a sequence number of the most recently transmitted normal packet. The transmission unit uses a transmission rate to select a normal packet or a retransmission packet. The transmission unit assigns a sequence number to the selected packet and transmits it. The normal packet information storage unit stores numbers assigned to the normal packets transmitted by the transmission unit. The invention can be applied to a transmission system that transmits data.

Abstract: A transmitting and receiving system is provided. The transmitting of receiving system includes a transmitting apparatus to transmit data and a receiving apparatus to receive the data by means of radio communication. The transmitting apparatus includes: data transmission means for transmitting the data; state information reception means for receiving state information indicative of states of the radio communication from the receiving apparatus; and control means for controlling transmission using the data transmission means.
