  • Patent number: 8909399
Abstract: In the case that the motor travel priority mode is set and the restriction mode is set as the control mode because of the request of the operation of the engine, the threshold value Peg that is smaller value between the obtained value (kw·Wout) from multiplying the output limit Wout of the battery by the preset conversion factor kw and the preset power Pset that is smaller than the converted output limit Wout of the battery at a normal time is compared with the driving power Pdrv*. The hybrid vehicle is driven with the motor travel in idle operation of the engine when the driving power Pdrv* is not more than the threshold value Peg, and the hybrid vehicle is driven with power from the engine when the driving power Pdrv* is more than the threshold value Peg.

  • Publication number: 20140358347
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle for reducing a variation in accelerator position when an EV mode is switched to a HV mode is provided. A controller executes the following process during running in the EV mode. The controller sets an increase of the accelerator position from a first accelerator position to a switching accelerator position at which a switch to the HV mode is to be made as a first increase when an output of a motor has reached an output upper limit at the first accelerator position. The controller sets an increase of the accelerator position from a second accelerator position to the switching accelerator position as a second increase which is smaller than the first increase when the output of the motor has reached the output upper limit at the second accelerator position which is larger than the first accelerator position.

  • Publication number: 20140350764
Abstract: In an electric-mileage learning when a running mode of a plug-in hybrid vehicle is a CD mode, acquisition of information for the electric-mileage learning is not performed in the case where the running mode is changed from the CD mode to a CS mode during one trip even when the running mode is changed to the CD mode afterward. The electric-mileage learning is performed by calculating a trip electric mileage using only information acquired in the CD mode before a change to the CS mode for the first time. This avoids inclusion of an error caused by running on the uphill road in the CS mode in a learned electric mileage even when the running is performed. This enhances the accuracy of the learned electric mileage, thus accurately calculating a possible EV running distance.

  • Publication number: 20140350761
Abstract: In the present specification, degradation of a battery is suppressed in a hybrid vehicle having an EV mode in which the hybrid vehicle runs without using an engine and an HV mode in which the hybrid vehicle runs using both the engine and a motor. A controller of the hybrid vehicle is configured to limit a usage range of the battery in the EV mode with an execution request of the EV mode having been made by an information input from outside to the vehicle than in the EV mode with no execution request. • Patent number: 8868272
Abstract: An electric vehicle includes an electric storage device, an electric motor that generates driving force for running the vehicle, using electric power output from the storage device, and a controller that controls an output of the storage device. The controller includes a restriction control unit that restricts a permissible output power indicating electric power permitted to be output from the storage device, based on a load condition of the storage device, and an output control unit that reduces the rate of increase of the electric power output from the storage device as the permissible output power is more likely to be restricted when returning from a restricted condition in which the permissible output power is restricted by the restriction control unit.

  • Patent number: 8781665
Abstract: An ECU uses a map or the like prepared in advance to calculate a discharge allowable power. Then, the ECU sets a VH upper limit value at the first upper limit value. When the running mode is not at a CD mode (that is, at a CS mode), or when the engine is operating, the ECU proceeds to S60. In contrast, when the running mode is at the CD mode and the engine is stopped, the ECU increases the discharge allowable power, and modifies the VH upper limit value to a second upper limit value that is lower than the first upper limit value.

  • Patent number: 8755963
Abstract: Motor traveling using only an output of a rotating electrical machine utilizing power of a vehicle-mounted power storage device is applicable to an electrically-powered vehicle, within a region inside a maximum output line in motor traveling. The maximum output line is composed of straight line portions defining an upper limit torque and an upper limit vehicle speed and a curved line portion defining upper limit output power, in motor traveling. When an output power upper limit value from the power storage device is limited due to an increase in a current load or a reduction in the SOC of the power storage device, a driving region to which motor traveling is applicable is narrowed. Operation in a high rotation region, where efficiency is reduced, is avoided by changing the upper limit vehicle speed in motor traveling in response to the SOC and/or the current load of the power storage device.

  • Patent number: 8751081
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle that runs in an electric running priority mode after the engine reaches a driving condition appropriate for heating the catalyst (S130-S150) if the system has been started up and the following conditions are met: the vehicle is running in an electric running priority mode in which electric power is used preferentially to drive the vehicle; the temperature (Tc) at which the catalyst becomes activated to purify the engine exhaust falls below a threshold value (Tref); and a battery storage rate (SOC) falls below a threshold value (Scd) which reaches a threshold value (Shv). Then the system switches to a hybrid running priority mode after running on electric power for the length of time necessary to heat the catalyst.
