    Abstract: A light-shielding photosensitive resin composition comprising (1) an alkali-soluble binder, (2) a photo-polymerization initiator, (3) an addition-polymerizing monomer having one or more ethylenic, unsaturated double bonds, and (4) one or more colorants, wherein said photo-polymerization initiator is substantially insensitive to light having a wavelength of 400 nm or longer. The composition is preferably coated on a temporary support to form a transfer material. Using the composition or the transfer material, a flat, light-shielding film having a high optical density may be formed on a color filter by self-alignment exposure without using an optical filter.

The colored photopolymer layer contains at least one quinophthalone dye. Also, disclosed is a method of forming an image using the photosensitive transfer material, to thereby form a multicolor image having good chromaticity even when organic solvent-soluble dyes are used and, in addition, having excellent transmission and light- and heat resistance. A color filter exhibiting high contrast as a liquid crystal display can also be produced using the photosensitive transfer material.

The present invention is also directed to a process for preparing a printed circuit which includes laminating the photopolymerizable material on a board, peeling off the support and then effecting pattern exposure and development.
