  • Patent number: 5850711
Abstract: A vehicle window opening/closing device is shown for opening and closing a window glass by link action executed by a sector gear that is reciprocally swung by rotation of a pinion gear. A lift arm and a coupling link are also provided. When the window glass is in its fully-closed-state, the journaling point at which the coupling link is supported by the sector gear is set to cross a fulcrum position defined by the positional relationship between the sector gear and the coupling link. A regulation portion composed of a regulating piece and a regulated piece is provided between the sector gear and the coupling link to thereby regulate movement of the coupling link in a beyond-fulcrum-position direction across the fully-closed-state. With this arrangement, the size of the device is not increased when a mechanism for locking the window glass when it is fully closed is attained.

  • Patent number: 5528951
Abstract: A linear actuator using a screw mechanism is provided which can be made free from play and can operate in a smooth fashion without involving any unacceptably rigorous tolerance control. An external thread of a screw rod is in threading engagement with an internal thread of a nut member for converting a rotational movement of the nut member into a linear movement of the screw rod, and a localized region of relatively tight fit is provided in the threading engagement. In particular, when the nut member is made of a molded plastic member, the localized region of relatively tight fit can be easily formed by grinding or cutting a part of the molding core for molding the internal thread of the nut member.

  • Patent number: 5239160
Abstract: In a laser beam machine tool, the problems of power losses, misalignment, high cost, and other problems associated with moving laser heads are eliminated by using a five-axis table in which a biaxial work holder, capable of rotating and tilting a workpiece is mounted on a three-axis table mechanism. In the three-axis table mechanism, an X-axis table is supported on linear motion bearings in overlapping relationship on a Y-axis table, which is, in turn, supported on linear motion bearings on a vertically movable Z-axis table, which is also supported in linear motion bearings. The X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis tables are driven by servo motors through ball screws so that backlash is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4395983
Abstract: The invention relates to a swirl-chamber Diesel engine. A swirl-chamber Diesel engine is disclosed which has a main combustion chamber, a swirl chamber, and a communicating passage for connecting them. The problem encountered is that, when the engine runs at low speeds, fuel droplets within the swirl chamber will gather and flow along the communicating passage into the main combustion chamber. To prevent this unfavorable fuel flow, a depression is formed within the swirl chamber to collect the fuel droplets. The depression is disposed adjacent to and communicating with the communicating passage via a rounded lip to provide an arrangement which will make it easy for the combustion gases flow to draw the collected fuel from the depression. Since the fuel is drawn from the depression by the combustion gases flow, carbonization of fuel on the depression wall will not take place.

  • Patent number: 4240392
Abstract: For use in a swirl-producing recombustion chamber of a Diesel engine, a glow plug comprises a shell which can be screwed into an engine block so as not to protrude into the precombustion chamber and a cylindrically shaped heating head attached to a plunger which is received in the shell and can be electromagnetically or hydraulically moved relative to the fixed shell. The heating head can be protruded from the shell so as to extend into a central region of the precombustion chamber when preheating of air is necessary but, at other times, can be retracted almost entirely into the shell so as not to obstruct violent swirling of air in the precombustion chamber.
