  • Patent number: 6684210
Abstract: In the conventional file management system, there is a problem that even a file assigned permission information can be processed without considering any permission information. Therefore, the system includes a first accumulation device 2 for accumulating files to which permission information is added, and a new file management apparatus 7 for performing an input/output process on files with a request for a process from the application A 10 accessing the file management system taken into account according to the permission information added to the file. The new file management apparatus 7 compares the permission information added to the file in the first accumulation device 2 with the request contents of the process for the file from the application A 10, determines whether or not the process can be performed on the file, inputs the file from the first accumulation device 2 based on the result, and outputs it to the application A 10.

  • Patent number: 6587477
Abstract: It is objected to simplify a procedure concerning bandwidth acquisition. Bandwidth acquiring means 809 of a second transmitting apparatus 814 acquires a bandwidth which was used by a first transmitting apparatus 806 by using a propagation delay identifier 804 read from first transmitting apparatus 806 and a maximum transmission data size 805 after stopping transmission of first transmitting apparatus 806. Each apparatus is composed so that transmission is started using this bandwidth and because returning and re-acquisition are not accompanied when the transmission is switched, necessary procedure can be simplified. Further, it is possible to effectively use the bandwidth by using a propagation delay identifier.

  • Patent number: 6584552
Abstract: A recording and reproducing apparatus is characterized in that said apparatus has: inputting means for receiving a packet data which is based on IEEE 1394, and in which signal information for indicating copy right information of an AV data (hereinafter, referred to as EMI) is provided in a header of a packet according to IEEE 1394; and recording and reproducing means for recording and reproducing an AV data and the EMI which are held in the packet data received by said inputting means. Four kinds of EMI are used, and, when an AV data indicating allowance “copy one generation” among them is to be recorded, said recording and reproducing means performs recording while rewriting the EMI to EMI indicating “no more copy.

  • Publication number: 20030058369
Abstract: According to the HAVi standard, a situation that a signal input from an input terminal of an AV apparatus is output from an output terminal of the same AV apparatus as it is or after its form is converted cannot be clearly shown. A controlling apparatus 82 controlling at least one controlled apparatus 30 and 75 based on an object-oriented model has a device object corresponding to the controlled apparatus 30 with a pass-through function having as a function element thereof a stream pass-through function to output a stream input from an input terminal from an output terminal as it is or after changing its form, in which a function object 42 corresponding to the pass-through function is provided.

  • Patent number: 6532269
Abstract: When transmitting encoded video data and audio data, a transmitter 201 also transmits a decoding method 107 generated by decoding-method generation means 203. In the case of a receiver 202, decoding control means 111 controls decoding means 208 in accordance with a received decoding method 113 and thereby, decodes video data and audio data 115. Thus, it is unnecessary for the receiver 202 to previously prepare all of a plurality of decoding methods and the transmitter 201 does not need to encode video data or audio data in accordance with the decoding method owned by the receiver 202.

  • Patent number: 6508596
Abstract: A plurality of digital signals having total data rates of n bit/s or less are input to a digital recording device recording digital signals having a data rate of n bit/s. The digital signals are subjected to format-conversion for the digital recording device to be recorded therein. Furthermore, signals having a data rate of n/i1 bit/s or less are subjected to format-conversion to be recorded i1 times in the digital recording device. In the case where the data rate of the digital signals to be input is n/j bit/s, the digital signals are subjected to format-conversion so that the amount of data capable of being recorded per unit time is decreased by i/j; thus, the digital signals are recorded for a long period of time under the condition that the data recording time is prolonged j times.

  • Patent number: 6463151
Abstract: The data transmission system can substantially prohibit illegal copy of real data since the encryption key applied to transmitted data is changed depending on copy management information, thereby the real data being decrypted and recorded with a key different from the original key when the copy management information is tampered. Thus, the transmitted data can be further securely protected than in the prior art.
