  • Patent number: 10656822
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods that enable sophisticated and inconspicuous interactions with content displayed on a head-mounted display are described. A head-mounted display includes an eye-tracker and the user also carries/wears a wireless portable interface device elsewhere on their body, such as a ring. The wireless nature of the portable interface device enables a small and unobtrusive form factor. The portable interface device includes an actuator that, when activated by the user, causes the portable interface device to wirelessly transmit a signal (e.g., a radio frequency signal or a sonic signal). A selection operation performed by the user is defined as the user activating the actuator of the portable interface device while the user is substantially concurrently gazing at a displayed object (as detected by the eye-tracker). In response to the selection operation, the head-mounted display displays a visual effect to the user.

  • Publication number: 20200091578
Abstract: Disclosed are devices, system, and method for mitigating wind damage to satellite antennas and for reducing the amount of ballast required to secure the satellite antennas. The device, system, and method include a mast on which an antenna may be affixed, a pivot gear capable of rotating between two or more positions, and a tension force or retention force on the pivot gear. A load force applied to the antenna creates a risk of damage proportional to the load force. The antenna system is capable of transitioning from a first orientation into a second orientation when the load force exceeds tension force or retention force, or the sum thereof, such that the antenna system experiences a reduced load force and therefore a reduced risk of damage. The device, system, and method also reduce the amount of ballast required to secure a non-penetrating antenna installation against tipping or sliding.

  • Patent number: 10537491
Abstract: A light emitting module and massage device provide vaginal rejuvenation. The device exposes collagen in the vaginal area or mucosa to temperatures elevated over normal body temperature to cause the collagen to reversibly or irreversibly denature while simultaneously applying vibration. Once thermally-induced collagen denaturation has occurred, both neoelastogenesis and neocollagenesis may occur and may be initiated with fibroblast proliferation, which may be promoted with vibration. Neofibrogenesis also occurs due to the fibroblastic activity, responsible for secretion of new collagen matrix to effect tissue repair. Thus, the device exploits thermally-induced collagen denaturation and repair along with simultaneous vibration to improve tissue tone, connective tissue tension and bulk tissue regeneration.

  • Publication number: 20190392163
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for enabling private communication between head-mounted displays. A first user dons a first head-mounted display. The first head-mounted display authenticates that the first user is authorized to view information displayed by the first head-mounted display. In response to positive authentication, the first head-mounted display displays the information to the first user. The first user inputs a selection command via an input interface, such as, for example, gazing at particular information, to select some of the displayed information. The first head-mounted display generates a message based on the user selection, which may be encrypted by the first head-mounted display prior to transmission. The first head-mounted display transmits the message to a second head-mounted display, such that the second head-mounted display displays the message to an eye of a second user wearing the second head-mounted display.

  • Publication number: 20190391200
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus for testing the response of electrical circuits to being flexed. Support members, preferably at least two, are positioned to receive the electrical circuits to be tested. The support members are spaced apart from each other to permit the electrical circuit to be flexed between the two support members. A plunger, having an arcuate front face is positioned between the support members. The plunger is depressed, flexing the electrical circuit a selected amount. After the circuit has been flexed a selected amount, the circuit is tested to determine whether or not it is fully operational after being flexed.

  • Patent number: 10488662
Abstract: Systems, articles, and methods that integrate photopolymer film with eyeglass lenses are described. One or more hologram(s) may be recorded into/onto the photopolymer film to enable the lens to be used as a transparent holographic combiner in a wearable heads-up display employing an image source, such as a microdisplay or a scanning laser projector. The methods of integrating photopolymer film with eyeglass lenses include: positioning photopolymer film in a lens mold and casting the lens around the photopolymer film; sandwiching photopolymer film in between two portions of a lens; applying photopolymer film to a concave surface of a lens; and/or affixing a planar carrier (with photopolymer film thereon) to two points across a length of a concave surface of a lens. Respective lenses manufactured/adapted by each of these processes are also described.

  • Patent number: 10451881
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for preventing eyebox degradation in wearable heads-up displays (“WHUDs”) are described. A WHUD may provide an eyebox defined by multiple spatially-separated exit pupils, where the size of the eyebox is influenced by the spacing between the exit pupils. A larger eyebox is achieved with larger spacing between the exit pupils but a larger spacing between exit pupils is susceptible to the formation of gaps or blind spots in the eyebox (eyebox degradation) if bright environmental light causes the user's pupil to constrict to a size that is smaller than the spacing between the exit pupils. A material of variable chromism is included in the user's field of view to reduce the perceived brightness of environmental light and thereby prevent the user's pupil from constricting to a size smaller than the spacing between the exit pupils.
