  • Publication number: 20220348472
Abstract: The present invention describes an improved catalytic reactor system with an improved catalyst that transforms CO2 and low carbon H2 into low-carbon syngas with greater than an 80% CO2 conversion efficiency, resulting in the reduction of plant capital and operating costs compared to processes described in the current art. The inside surface of the adiabatic catalytic reactors is lined with an insulating, non-reactive surface which does not react with the syngas and effect catalyst performance. The improved catalyst is robust, has a high CO2 conversion efficiency, and exhibits little or no degradation in performance over long periods of operation. The low-carbon syngas is used to produce low-carbon fuels (e.g., diesel fuel, jet fuel, gasoline, kerosene, others), chemicals, and other products resulting in a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil fuel derived products.

  • Publication number: 20220333015
Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to processes and systems for the purification and conversion of CO2 into low-carbon or zero-carbon high quality fuels and chemicals using renewable energy. In one aspect, the present invention provides a process for producing a stream comprising at least 90 mol % CO2. In certain cases, the CO2 stream is processed to make low carbon fuels and chemicals. In this process at least a portion of the CO2 is reacted with a stream comprising H2 in a Reverse Water Gas Shift (RWGS) reactor to produce a product stream that comprises CO.

  • Patent number: 11156053
Abstract: A riser disconnect/reconnect system having a disconnection package (RDP) and a modified lower marine riser package (LMRP) are provided for quick disconnection of the marine drilling riser (MDR) from the LMRP to facilitate access to the LMRP or BOP stack. The RDP includes a flex joint and a hydraulically-actuated release connector (RC) with a connecting mandrel that engages a modified LMRP. In an emergency, the RDP is disconnected from the LMRP allowing access to the BOP stack for intervention. The RDP may be disconnected from the LMRP for recovery of the LMRP or BOP stack to the surface for repair or maintenance without recovering the MDR. The RC joins the flex joint to the uppermost annular blowout preventer in the LMRP. The release connector can be used in a standard or inverted position. Also provided are structural cages with complementary stab plates allowing access to various bypass ports and controls.

  • Patent number: 9909071
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a process ideal for small scale (distributed) gas to liquids production by recycling and processing some side (non-targeted) products. During operation, the system produces a range of hydrocarbon outputs. The disclosed embodiments recycle non-targeted outputs to maximize the output of targeted hydrocarbon products. Recycled outputs include waxes, light gases and syngas. These embodiments allow for, but are not limited to, the efficient production of high cetane diesel fuel through the recycling of long-chain hydrocarbon wax and short-chain light. Process efficiency is further increased through the recycling of tail-gas produced from catalytic reactions.

  • Patent number: 9650874
Abstract: A containment system having a containment dome and a seal plate which is attached to an oil wellhead casing or riser to prevent oil spills and contamination when an oil leak occurs. The containment dome is sealed to the seal plate by a compression mechanism so that oil will not leak from the containment dome. The seal plate may be part of a drilling package having a lower marine riser package, a blowout preventer, and a shear module below the blowout preventer. The containment dome can provide a wellhead patch to a wellhead system wherein the wellhead patch can interface with a capping stack. Chemicals can be injected into the containment dome to prevent hydrates from forming. All aspects of controlling and operating an oil wellhead can be performed through the containment dome and seal plate, and all aspects of installation, regulation, and control of the containment dome can be performed by remote operating vehicles under water.
