  • Patent number: 11431690
Abstract: An edge location of a content delivery network may protect data that is stored and transmitted within the edge location while providing access to associated metadata. After an origin-facing server obtains a requested object, the server may encrypt the object using a client-specific encryption key. In some cases, the server may also separately encrypt the metadata. The encrypted object and metadata may be sent to an intermediate layer server. The intermediate server may decrypt the metadata (if it is encrypted) and determine, based on the metadata, routing for the object. The object remains encrypted at the intermediate server. In some cases, the metadata may be re-encrypted by the intermediate server. The encrypted object and metadata may be sent to a client-facing server, in accordance with the determined routing. The client-facing server may decrypt the encrypted object and send the encrypted object to the client.

  • Publication number: 20220161293
Abstract: A system and method of creating a decorative component having multiple surface finishes includes providing a substrate with a metal surface layer and treating the metal surface layer to remove oxidation, and applying a coating or paint layer over at least a portion of the treated metal surface layer. The paint layer is removed via laser ablation to define a metal-paint interface. The metal-paint interface created by laser ablation applied to paint over treated metal is free from adhesion failure. The workpiece created includes multiple surfaces having complex shapes and features, and may be applied to a variety of surfaces. Multiple surface finishes are therefore created on a single part without the need for assembly of separate parts, with a robust interface between contrasting surface appearances.

  • Patent number: 11248436
Abstract: A technique facilitates use of a frac diverter instead of a frac plug in a variety of fracturing operations. The frac diverter has a simpler and less expensive construction. Although the frac diverter may not form a seal with the surrounding casing in some applications, the frac diverter is able to sufficiently restrict flow of fracturing fluid to enable a successful fracturing operation. The frac diverter may comprise arrangements of at least one cone, at least one slip ring, and at least one corresponding sub which work in cooperation with a flow restricting element. The flow restricting element may comprise various types of rings, e.g. sealing element rings, able to sufficiently restrict flow of fracturing fluid past the frac diverter.

  • Patent number: 11153248
Abstract: Location-based notification includes establishment of a rally point and subsequent notification of a user when another user enters the rally point. Senders may set up rally points at various physical locations and specify one or more target recipients that are to be notified when the sender enters the rally point. Target recipients may specify communication settings that dictate whether and/or how they wish to receive notifications under a variety of circumstances. When a sender having a computing device enters a rally point location, a notification is sent from the computing device to a location-based notification service, which notifies each of the target recipients in a manner that complies with the target recipient's individual communication settings.

  • Patent number: 11134134
Abstract: Systems and methods are described to enable and manage the use of origin-facing points of presence (“POPs”) within a content delivery network (“CDN”). Origin-facing POPs can provide a second-tier caching mechanisms in a CDN, such that cache misses occurring at first-tier POPs may be processed by using information maintained at the origin-facing POPs, rather than requiring interaction with an origin server. Associations between origin-facing POPs and origin servers may be automatically created based on a distance between the respective origin-facing POPs and origin servers, such that an operator of the origin server is not required to specify a location of an origin facing POP. First-tier POPs may selectively retrieve content from origin-facing POPs in instances where the origin-facing POP is expected to provide the content more rapidly than the origin server.

  • Publication number: 20210235794
Abstract: A hydration device wherein a customized bladder is secured in a fixed position within a customized glove covering the topside surface area of a hand and the full 360-degree surface area of a forearm. A chamber stitched into an internal surface of the glove and a reclosable fastener secure the bladder's fixed position. The bladder is constructed with additional material on its sides, so that it conforms to the shape of and distributes the weight of its contents 360 degrees along the contours of the appendages. Two holes stitched into the outer portion of the glove expose the bladder's reclosable aperture for filling and a spout for extracting the bladder's contents. The bladder's contoured, 360-degree design impels the hydration device to lay fitted along the appendages with the spout purposefully positioned in a mouth's path during a normal arm swing, thereby promoting the user to maintain unaltered motion while drinking.

  • Patent number: 11068412
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for implementing direct memory access in a virtualized computing environment. A new mapping of interfaces between RNIC Consumer and RDMA Transport is defined, which enables efficient retry, a zombie detection mechanism, and identification and handling of invalid requests without bringing down the RDMA connection. Techniques are disclosed for out of order placement and delivery of ULP Requests without constraining the RNIC Consumer to the ordered networking behavior, if it is not required for the ULP (e.g., storage). This allows efficient deployment of an RDMA accelerated storage workload in a lossy network configuration, and reduction in latency jitter.

  • Publication number: 20210185114
Abstract: An origin server that is implemented within one or more devices within a third party virtual private cloud (VPC) is provided herein. Instead of communicating with various CDNs over a public network, the third party VPC may instead communicate with a managed VPC via a private network. Thus, no gateway, network address translation (NAT), or other such devices may be needed for the third party VPC and the managed VPC to communicate. Rather, a VPC identifier of the managed VPC and a VPC identifier of the third party VPC are used to pair the two VPCs. Once paired, a private route is set up such that points from the private address space of the third party VPC to the private address space of the managed VPC. The managed VPC then communicates directly with the various CDNs via a public network.

  • Patent number: 10990701
Abstract: Techniques for content customization with security for client preferences are described herein. The techniques describe the customization of content provided by websites according to preferences, such as the interests, “likes” and demographic and/or geographic information of users. Additional techniques describe aspects of keeping the users' preferences secure from the website, so that the users' privacy and anonymity are protected. In one implementation, a “trusted entity” is trusted by users to obtain and store the preferences. Content may be obtained by the trusted entity from a content provider, such as a website. The content may be changed according to the preferences. The content is then provided to the users. In view of the changes made by the trusted entity, the user enjoys a customized version of the content. Additional techniques describe limits to customization, based on permissible customizations and frameworks generated by the content providers.
