Patent number: 10675766Abstract: A system for providing a user of a virtual reality (VR) system with physical interactions with an object in the real world or in the surrounding physical space while they are concurrently interacting in the virtual world with a corresponding virtual object. The real world object is dynamic with the system including a physical interaction system that includes a robot with a manipulator for moving, positioning, and/or orienting the real world object to move it into contact with the user. For example, the physical object is moved into contact with a tracked body part of the user at a time that is synchronized with a time of an interaction event occurring in the virtual world being created by the VR system. Further, a system is described for providing a dynamic physical interaction to a human participant, e.g., a fast and compelling handover in an augmented reality (AR) system.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2019Date of Patent: June 9, 2020Assignee: Disney Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Günter D. Publication number: 20200162236Abstract: Embodiments provide traceability of edits to a document, i.e., a verifiable and immutable provenance chain for the document. Systems and methods enable traceability of edits, by encoding, for states of the document, a fingerprint (e.g., a cryptographic hash of the document's contents) and an edit history within a block written to a distributed ledger (e.g., a blockchain). The ledger is maintained via a self-organizing peer-to-peer distributed ledger network. Once added to the ledger, the contents of a block (e.g., the document's fingerprint and edit history) are immutable and the integrity of the edit history encoded in the ledger is secure. The algorithm that generates the fingerprint is sensitive to edits of the document. The non-corruptible fingerprint encoded in the ledger is employable to detect any edits that are not included in the encoded edit history and/or inconsistent with a currently available version of the document.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2018Publication date: May 21, 2020Inventors: Gavin Stuart Peter Miller, Xuejun Xu, Max Gray Edell, John Bevil Bates, Matthew Keith Albright

Publication number: 20200125661Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods, and computer storage media directed to reducing a size of a blockchain. In implementation, upon identifying an indication to reduce a size of a blockchain, a set of blocks to remove from the blockchain can be determined. The set of blocks can then be removed from the blockchain to reduce the size of the blockchain thereby reducing the amount of memory used by the blockchain.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 19, 2018Publication date: April 23, 2020Inventors: Matthew Keith Albright, Shriram Venkatesh Shet Revankar

Publication number: 20190358372Abstract: Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy systems, apparatuses, and methods for operating the systems and apparatuses are disclosed. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a negative pressure source, a connector port, at least one switch, and a controller. The negative pressure source is connected through the connector port to either (i) a wound dressing having a canister configured to store fluid aspirated from the wound or (ii) a wound dressing without a canister between the connector port and the wound dressing. The controller determines, based on a signal received from the at least one switch, whether the canister is positioned in the fluid flow path and adjusts one or more operational parameters of negative pressure wound therapy based on the determination. The switch is activated by the connection of either the canister or canisterless wound dressing to the apparatus.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 15, 2018Publication date: November 28, 2019Inventors: Ben Alan Askem, Anthony Jonathan Bedford, Kevin Bendele, Ali Khishdoost Borazjani, Nicola Brandolini, Ian Charles Culverhouse, Otteh Edubio, James Maxwell Eelbeck, Matt Ekman, Matthew Keith Fordham, Philip Gowans, Michael James Hayers, Mark Richard Hesketh, James Daniel Homes, Allan Kenneth Frazer Grugeon Hunt, Mark Edward Jones, William Kelbie, Reece Knight, David Mcleod, Nisha Mistry, Samuel John Mortimer, Fatoona Mosa, Matthew Murphy, Michael Paton, Neil Harry Patrick, Louis della-Porta, Felix Clarence Quintanar, Lee Michael Rush, Carl Dean Saxby, Hannah Bailey Sidebottom, Daniel Lee Steward, Catherine Thaddeus, Simon Tyson, David Ronald Upton, William Jacob Ward, Nicholas Warrington

Publication number: 20190224413Abstract: An injection device comprising a housing (12) and a dose selector (16) to set a dose of medicament to be ejected from the injection device. A spring (20) coupled to the dose selector stores energy necessary for ejecting the dose from the injection device. A ratchet (25) arrangement is provided to rotationally couple a ratchet component and an internal surface of the housing in a coupled state and to allow relative rotation between the ratchet component and the internal surface of the housing in an uncoupled state. An over-torque feature (27) located between the dose selector and the spring is actuatable, when the rotation of the dose selector causes the charging force to exceed a defined limit, to reduce the charging force transferred from the dose selector to the spring. Both the ratchet component and the over-torque feature are provided on a single component (28).Type: ApplicationFiled: September 11, 2017Publication date: July 25, 2019Inventors: Karl James HEWSON, George BOSTOCK, George Robert Michael SAVELL, James Alexander DAVIES, Oliver HART, Joshua Arieh SHENKER, Matthew Alexander MORRIS, Matthew Keith FORDHAM

Publication number: 20180330724Abstract: Techniques are described herein for optimizing the presentation of content through obtaining viewership metrics, generating multiple renditions of presentations of content, and selecting optimized renditions of content. One aspect includes associating a request for viewership metrics with a presentation of content, publishing the presentation of content, and receiving information of the viewership metrics associated with the presentation. Another aspect includes copying a presentation of a content item, creating a second presentation of the content item for publishing over one or more channels, and linking the presentation of the content item to the second presentation of the content item, such that a change to one propagates to the other of the presentation of the content item or the second presentation of the content item. In yet another aspect, a content rendition may be selected for presentation based on performance of the rendition out of multiple renditions in an auction.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2018Publication date: November 15, 2018Inventors: Benjamin Aaron Miller, Jason D. Patent number: 9781231Abstract: A formula-driven programming-environment is described, which may be used to provide an environment for applications to operate within a network node or other computing device. In one example, statements of a program may be interpreted to thereby execute formula-style commands within an address space defined and constrained in a memory device by the integrated development environment. The commands may obtain data, assign values to variables and access data from other node(s) by the interpretation of statements in the program and communicating over a network. The communicating may include queuing a message for transmission by the formula-driven programming-environment. The commands may provide named access or relative access to data in response to the interpretation of statements in the program. The commands may communicate with at least one application located on a remote computing device in response to the interpretation of statements in the program.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2014Date of Patent: October 3, 2017Inventors: Michael T.
